MUCH, MUCH, MORE!

METAL DETECTING SUCCESS.

Whether you’re new to the hobby or are an experienced detectorist,
metal detecting can offer you more than just the opportunity to find
lost and valuable treasures.  Metal detecting offers you an active
lifestyle.  It gets you out of the house and into nature.  It also
brings with it the excitement of discovery.  Who knows what you will
dig up?  It could be an old coin, a button from an army uniform that
has long outlived its usefulness, or even a musket round.  Plus,
you'll be able to travel to new places and learn their history.  And
with the hobby of metal detecting growing in popularity every year,
you will be able to meet new people and make good friends through your
mutual interest.

WHEN YOU’RE FIRST STARTING OUT WITH METAL DETECTING, YOU MIGHT
THINK THAT YOU NEED THE BEST METAL DETECTOR IN ORDER TO FIND THE BEST
TREASURES.  BUT METAL DETECTORS ARE EXPENSIVE, AND MANY NEW HOBBYISTS
SIMPLY CAN NOT AFFORD TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY.  PLUS, IF YOU’RE
JUST STARTING OUT IN THE HOBBY, YOU MIGHT NOT WANT TO SPEND THE BUCKS
TO GET THE BEST.  OF COURSE, HAVING THE DEEPEST MACHINE WILL GIVE YOU
AN EDGE OVER OTHER HUNTERS, BUT ONCE YOU LEARN THE INS AND OUTS OF
METAL DETECTING, THE MACHINE ITSELF WON’T MAKE AS MUCH OF A
DIFFERENCE. PROTEINS ARE AMONG THE MOST SIGNIFICANT NUTRIENTS INSIDE
A DOG’S DIET. THEY ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THOSE FACETS OF DEVELOPMENT AND
GROWTH, AND THEREFORE ARE EXTREMELY IMPORTANT IN STRUCTURAL CONSTITUTE
AND ALSO THE DEFENSE MECHANISMS. PLUS, PROTEINS ARE BURNED AS CALORIES
AND MAY BE TRANSFORMED INTO, AND STORED, AS FAT.

THE BEST PLACE TO USE YOUR FIRST METAL DETECTOR IS ON A BEACH.  AT
FIRST, YOU’RE GOING TO NEED TO DIG UP EVERYTHING THAT YOU GET A
SIGNAL ON -- UNTIL YOU LEARN THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF SIGNALS.  MOST
METAL DETECTORS ARE BUILT WITH SOME DISCRIMINATION THAT HELPS YOU TO
PASS OVER WORTHLESS THINGS SUCH AS NAILS, FOIL, PULLTABS, ETC.  BUT
THE MORE YOU DISCRIMINATE, THE LESS DEPTH YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE.
FOR INSTANCE, IF YOU PASS OVER ALL THINGS THAT YOU THINK ARE PULLTABS,
YOU MIGHT MISS OUT ON NICKELS OR SMALL GOLD RINGS.  SO YOU HAVE TO BE
REALLY CAREFUL WITH YOUR SETTINGS.  ALSO, WHEN YOU’RE NEW TO METAL
DETECTING, DON’T START IN AN AREA THAT IS REALLY OVERLOADED WITH
SIGNALS, BECAUSE IT WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY.  START OUT BY PRACTICING ON
A BEACH OR A FIELD, OR EVEN IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD.
One very important rule when metal detecting is to respect others.
Always cover your holes after you’re done digging up your treasure,
even on the beaches.  People typically don’t watch where they’re
going in places such as this, and you don’t want any walkers or
joggers to twist their ankle. Another metal detecting rule to live by
is to always take the trash that you dig up with you when you leave.
When you get home and go through your trash, you might discover things
that you thought were just junk turn out to be incredible finds.
Plus, remember not to trespass on someone else’s property.  If the
place that you want to go metal detecting is privately owned, you have
to get the owner’s permission first.  Do not take the okay of a
neighbor; make sure to speak directly to the person who owns the land.
