HOW TO MAKE CANDLE
Thanks for visiting "All about candle making Crafts"! I really want
you to have enjoyment from candle making as much as I do and put this
website to help you as you take a look at this wonderful hobby.
Now you can start to learn with Steps to Making Candles for Yourself.
The art of candle making has been practiced for a very long time.
While many people practice the art today as a popular pastime, in days
gone by it was a necessity for people to bring light into their homes.
Many people practice the art of candle making for many different
reasons.
Some make candles to sell as a part of their business, some will make
candles for gift giving, other teach the craft to children as a
project, and till others will make candles for themselves and for
their personal consumption.
There is a personal satisfaction to be felt when you use candle
making as a means of creating gifts for others and for yourself also.
Today you can easily find the candle making materials and tools in the
craft stores in your area.
The usual supplies such as molds, wicks and wax are readily available
and suppliers are even making available additional supplies such as
decorations, fragrances, and color for the hobbyists interested in
homemade candles. Any other supplies that may be needed by the candle
making hobbyist can be supplied by them.
To start the candle making process, the wax has to be melted using a
double boiler. You can create a simple double boiler by filling a
large pot of water and putting it on the stove. In another smaller pot
you will put the, as yet, solid max, then place that pot in the larger
pot.
In this way the wax will melt, without burning, because of the heat
from the surrounding hot water. Next you will position the wick in the
mold while the melted wax is poured into the mold. It would take about
4 to 6 hours for the wax to cool and before it can be taken out of the
mold. To hasten the process, you can apply a cooking spray to the
inside of the mold before you pour in the melted wax.
Next place the mold in the freezer for about 30 minutes and that
should make it easier to remove the candle from the mold. You can
create a number of different types of candles in your home. The
variety is unlimited given the many colors, fragrances, and
decorations that you can use.
Avid candle making hobbyists will use materials such as liquid latex
to fashion molds of their own and create unique candles for
themselves. The difficulty of the latex molds is that they do not have
the necessary strength to stand on their own, so it poses a problem
when it comes to pouring in the melted wax.
To get around this issue, you may use a strong piece of cardboard
into which you cut a hole that is large enough for the mold to reach
to the lip.
You will need to create a lip at the bottom of a latex mold. That
being done, the wax should be poured into the mold while the cardboard
provides a support structure to hold up the mold.
The art of making and selling candles has been made into a very
lucrative business by many hobbyists who used their love of the art
form to generate an income for themselves. They will buy their
supplies in large quantities and apply bulk discounts to get the best
deals.
With some creative thinking they are able to come up with packaging
ideas to create interest and make their product attractive to its
buyers. The art is an old one, but new and forward thinking ideas can
be applied to it to create interest.
