Listen to this: I started working in the Career Planning and Placement Office at Southern Illinois University while I was pursuing my Bachelor's degree. I saw all of the books that the office had on the shelves and even then, I knew that they didn't offer a "REAL" solution for people like you and me - people who needed more than just pictures of other people's resumes.

Looking at other people's resumes doesn't offer much of anything UNLESS they are supported by the critical explanations that show how those resumes were created.

I realized that there was a true need for a resume book that really showed HOW to create a resume step by step. So, I read and read everything I could find about resume writing. I also spent a lot of time working with Career Experts in the field gaining an understanding of the resume-writing process. What helped even more was dealing with the hiring managers of major corporations on a regular basis. I learned exactly what it took to write an outstanding resume.

Through the ensuing years, as I worked in the field of Human Resources, I saw the kinds of resumes that people were sending in to apply for job openings. I was stunned by the lack of professional writing, the grammar errors, typos and format blunders. It was crazy. I just felt like I should call each job candidate and help them re-write their resume. Everyone deserves to know how to write a professional resume. It was so frustrating knowing that the books on the market couldn't really convey the information properly becuase they left the most essential element people truly needed to succeed. Those books didn't SHOW people how to create a resume step by step. All they did was TELL people what a resume should look like.
