As a child, I played every sport there was.  I wasn't the best athlete, or the fastest, until I decided to put forth the effort to become faster.  I realized that the biggest and best stars in professional sports were the ones who were the fastest.  I began to learn as much as I could about improving speed and went and began getting faster myself!About the time I was 9 years old, I began to pull away from other kids my age as a result of this training.  Kids two or three years older couldn't even beat me in a sprint!  At the age of 10, I placed 5th in a national track meet in the 50 meter dash, and from then on, I was addicted to speed!I learned everything I could from anyone who knew anything.  I used every training device and program there was.  At the age of 12 and only 5'7" tall, I first touched the rim of a basketball net.  Needless to say, the training worked.Throughout high school I excelled in sports because I had developed speed early on.  I was very success in the 100 meter dash in high school and did incredibly well in football.  So well, in fact, that I was offered a scholarship to play college football, all the while I was a whopping 5'8" 155-pounds (and I wasn't even the kicker!).During my years as a child, I did things that I later learned were great for  my development, and other things that were not so great.  I am here today to help youth athletes improve their speed, juast as I did, so that they may someday reach their goals, as I did mine.Through proper training, youth athletes can improve their speed that will help them take their game to the next level.  While genetics do play a role in speed development, most high school athletes never realize their ultimate potential due to poor training methods early on in their career.  Sports such as football, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, basketball, and lacrosse require athletes to perform short sprints.  If you coach any of these sports, do you have your athletes run long distances at a slow pace yet expect them to sprint fast?  Do you have your deconditioned athletes run laps around the field to get in shape?  These are BIG mistakes that kill the athlete's speed over time.  By performing these types of exercises, athletes develop the ability to run long distances at a slow pace.  The only time athletes should run at a slow pace is when they run off the field/court winners!WHY YOU MUST LISTEN TO MEI was able to become successful in athletics because I was fast. In college, I earned my degree in Exercise and Sport Science where I studied the body during sport and exercise.  I am also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  I have spent years learning about speed development and youth athletic performance, which has led me to develop my speed training system I outline in Developing Youth Speed.WHY SHOULD YOU BUY ANOTHER SPEED PROGRAM?Unlike other speed programs, Developing Youth Speed takes advantage of special periods in a child's development so the athlete reaches maximum performance.  Youth speed training should not focus on "results in 6 weeks" because it must be DEVELOPED over time.  Results will be achieved in a few weeks and throughout the athlete's career.  In Developing Youth Speed, 111 drills and exercises are fully explained and designed based on the athletes maturity and ability. In this great resource for parents, coaches of youth athletes, and even dedicated youth athletes, you will discoverStages of youth development that will help you develop drills and exercises based on their maturity that will revolutionize the way you train your athletes.  This is the most important benefit of Developing Youth Speed. How to test and evaluate your athletes properly (and why numbers or times are not important)Exercises to help reduce the potential for hamstring injuries (and it's not more stretching!)Exercises to strengthen muscles that help reduce the potential for ACL injuries (a must for female athletes!)How to end the "social hour" stretching warm ups, where athletes talk to each other instead of paying attention to their stretches.  This warm up program incorporates balance, stretching, and movement that will have your athletes warmed up, breathing, sweating, and prepared to play at game speeds in less than 10 minutes.Learn why Sir Isaac Newton is so important (remember, the apple fell from the tree?)Fun ways to teach athletes to accelerate (yes, even tough macho coaches can use these drills!)The biggest mistake athletes make when moving laterally, and how to correct itHow to properly develop explosive power based on the athlete's age and maturity.  If your youth athletes are performing an adult program that some college or professional coach developed, you are doing more harm than good, just ask them how they are when they are 40 years old and can't walk.  The best medicine ball exercises that will improve athlete's acceleration and jumping abilityStrength exercises athletes must learn, and little or no equipment is needed. How to use the agility ladder properly.  I can't tell you how many coaches I know use a ladder yet can't explain exactly why they use certain drills. How to cool down properlyA goal setting worksheet, by far, the missing link in every single program.A 3-Phase, 9-week program guide for coaches and athletes to followHow to use speed training during practicesLearn why progression is king for athletic development and how performing advanced exercises too soon will result in your athletes peaking too soon."For many years I have worked with young athletes and have established many programs and systems to develop speed. I recently read "Developing Youth Speed" by Roger White and was blown away by the effectiveness of this book. To often books are written on a level that only experienced trainers or college professors can understand. Developing Youth Speed is a great read that every parent, athlete, coach, or trainer should have in their library. It is full of exact descriptions and pictures that make it easy to follow along. Roger has taking speed concepts and put them into simple format that every athlete can do. Plus he outlined an actual workout that can be started today! I strongly recommend anyone interested in leaning about speed training to get "Developing Youth Speed"! Lee TaftExecutive Vice President, International Youth Conditioning AssocitationAthletic Speed Consultantwww.SportsSpeedEtc.comWithout a doubt, Developing Youth Speed is the only program you will need when working with youth athletes.  Why do I know this?  I have worked with hundreds of athletes using the exact same drills and progressions.  Very few of my athletes become injured and all of them improve their speed, athleticism, flexibility, power, and overall self-confidence.  WILL THESE DRILLS WORK FOR MY ATHLETES?This book provides drills for athletes of all ages. Sports such as, soccer, basketball, football, baseball, tennis, lacrosee, softball, and sprints all require athletes to have the following characteristics:CoordinationExplosive powerExceptional strengthFast foot quicknessFunctional flexibilityOptimal conditioningThese characteristics must be developed year and year.  Very few athletes have the ability to only play their sport and excel through the professional levels.  Developing Youth Speed covers 111 drills and exercises that develop these characteristics. To view a short video clip of sample exercises, just click play!WHO WOULD YOU HIRE?I find it funny when I use ladders or medicine balls, and athletes and coaches think they "know" what I do or that they "have done this before."  I have used a hammer and nails before, but that doesn't make me a carpenter.  Trust me, if you see anything I have built with wood, hammer and nails, DO NOT GO NEAR IT!  Would you want me building your home, or a carpenter who knows what to do?  Because of my experience and background in sport performance, I understand what athletes need, how much they need, and when they need it, just as the carpenter knows what to do.  "I thought speed couldn't be taught?"Think about this question for a second.  Why do Olympic level sprinters have coaches?  If speed were 100% genetic and only a select few were given the gifts to run at the Olympic level, then how come you don't see many Olympic sprinters in their teens?  The reason is simple...they must develop the proper characteristics needed to compete at that level.  I laugh when I hear coaches comment that "speed can't be taught."  As an example, a youth athlete comes to you and is interested in you helping out with training, and you didn't even own a copy of Developing Youth Speed, you would probably have the athlete run sprints.  Over the course of weeks, months and years, the athlete would get faster!  In this example, didn't you, as a coach, teach this athlete how to become faster?Using the system detailed in Developing Youth Speed, athletes are given the blueprint they need to become faster.  WHICH ONE ARE YOU?Frankly, I become very surprised when coaches/parents/athletes tell me how important it is for them to become faster during games and matches and yet, they don't follow my methods.  This tells me that there are a two types of people: the one who will break through concrete walls to become faster no matter what and the one who wishes they were faster but does nothing about it.  Which one are you?AN INVESTMENT FOR A LIFETIME The 9-week program, as outlined in Developing Youth Speed would cost athletes $540.  Unfortunately, I can only be in one location, one team, one group at a time.  This is your chance to take action using the same program I use with my athletes and become the selected few who will do what it takes to separate from the rest of the pack.  As I say, "Catch Me If You Can" because I'm always ahead of the pack in whatever I do.  For a limited time, you can order this program as a download for $14.95. To order the Second Edition as a download for a limited time price of $14.95, click the button below and receive the book instantly. (you must have Adobe Reader to view the document, if you do not have it, you can download it for free HERE)P.S.  Still not sure if speed is important for athletes?  Research has proven that speed separates elite soccer players from the non-elite.  What is the most important tests in football?  In baseball?  Order your copy today!Copyright (c) 2006-7Sport X Training

"I worked with Roger for four summers.  We focused on speed, conditioning, agility, strength and plyometrics.  The workouts were very challenging, but enjoyable at the same time.  He pushed me to my limits constantly.  His methods of training definitely helped me play basketball at the Division 1 level.  As a point guard, I was in great shape and felt faster than any other player on any team we played.  I gained more confidence and my level of play increased as well as my speed.  I would definitely work with him again" - Jasmin MacAlpine"Roger, and Sport X Training are excellent at what they do. When it comes to training for soccer, I have found them to be an tremendous source of first class training information!  I would recommend them to any athlete."Ali Pullen, Lochgelly, Fife, Scotland"After working with Roger, my players picked up speed as the season progressed.  Their running technique improved immensely.  I never saw their arms flying all over the place."Gary Maccagnone, coach"My son was fast (before working with Roger), however, I see an improvement in his acceleration."Mark Sieg, parent"Coach,Just wanted to let you know that my son Luke took second at the Oakland County Middle School Track Meet in the 200M dash. Both Luke and I are positive that the result of your training program made a significant difference: how he is out of the blocks, form & leg strength."Timo L.
