1. They Sell your The Dream
brokers invest heavily in Advertising. They tell you stories about how you can double your money in 1 hour trading the Forex market. But the reality is you can lose all your money in 1 hour... In the past I used to dabble with being an ?Introducing broker? for many forex brokers, which helped me learn all the hidden secret of brokers. First of all, you need to know that 90% of brokers are market makers. This means they don't have much to do with the real markets or banks. They just create for you a virtual market and let you trade. They profit directly from your loss, and they lose when you win. This mean that their interest is that you lose as much as possible, as quickly as possible. Different brokers have different strategies to make you lose (hitting stop losses, requotes, etc.) but the result is the same.And the big secret is they invest money in marketing to pump you the idea of "if you want be a successful trader and make lots of money you need be a scalper". This is silly because successful traders today are long term trader and no one is a scalper. Why? Brokers market this false idea because they make money on each trade you open (spread). If you are a scalper you will open a minimum of 3 trades/day, the average is 5 or more. This means 100 trades a month or more. Say you open 1 lot each trade, the broker will make between $2,000 to $5,000 from you every month. By the way, they will also collect your losses in case they are market makers.Long term trader opens 1 trade maximum per day, which means a maximum of 20 trades/Month. This means the broker will make $400 to $1k maximum (depending on spread). But always less because long term traders don?t have a habit of insisting on opening a trade each and every day.
4. Money management is the secret :
How would someone expect to be a profitable trader without using money management? Even successful gamblers use money management... If you have $1k you will not gamble with all your capital, because even if you double it to $2k, $4k then $8k, eventually one loss will take you out I find that the optimal success ratio for a Forex strategy should be more than 60% winning trades. But even if you have this success percentage, this doesn't mean you should just go ahead and invest large percentage of your capital, in the hope to double your money quickly. The reality is that the bigger percentage you invest from your capital, the more your trading becomes risky and the fastest you will exit the market. 70% of success in Forex comes from respecting money management rules. I learned this secret from my friend Mostafa Belkhayate , who was voted the best worldwide trader of 1999, best forex technical analyzer award winner of 2009 and 2010, A veteran trader with 27 years of experience in the Forex markets.
