Here’s Quick Guide to eating healthy!Has anxiety got you in its grip?  Anxiety comes in many different forms, from severe panic attacks to a nagging sense of worry.  It afflicts a large percentage of today’s society, and medications prescribed for this disorder are at an all-time high.While the most effective treatment involves consulting with a counsellor or physician, there are many things you can do at home to curb the effects of anxiety. You may be surprised to learn that one of these is as simple as practicing good eating habits and focusing on foods that reduce anxiety.   Here’s how: Cut back on foods containing Omega 6 fatty acids and increase those with omega 3’s.  What, you may ask, is an Omega fatty acid and how can I tell a six from a three?  Omega six fatty acids are also called linoleic acid.  The body can’t produce them, they are found only in food. These fatty acids are mostly found in vegetable oils – and as a result, in fried foods. Add more Omega threes to your diet with foods like oily fish such as Salmon and Tuna, grains and seeds, broccoli and blackberries. Drink Chamomile Tea:  Well known as a natural sleep aide, chamomile contains properties that decrease anxiety and can ward off depression. Tryptophan has been suggested to ease the effects of anxiety. Tryptophan can also be found in chicken, soy, eggs, milk and many types of seeds. Eat foods high in Complex carbohydrates – Whole grain breads, starchy foods, and beans contain complex carbs.  (Avoid simple carbohydrates like sugar, pastas and foods with refined white flour.)
