I am actually very much just like you! I LOVE a challenge!

My name is Troy M Anderson from Tempe, Arizona.

At school I was a wrestler with an annoying habit of losing matches, but an attitude that simply stuck at it until I did. This year will see my 3rd decade competing in “full contact” sports including competing on an Aussi Rules Football team for last 12 years, and more recently got the bug for doing crazy adventures and tough physical challenges.

So hopefully you’ve given yourself AT LEAST a month to prepare for your event (if not you’ll need to really haul ass to get ready in time!!!)

If you’re worried about the time commitment to train effectively you’d be surprised by what I am about to say!

The MOST effective workouts are always DONE in 30 minutes or less!

It drives me nuts going to the local gym to see folk spending literally hours on those damn treadmills, exercise bikes and cross trainers… followed up with a bunch of crunches on the mat for good measure. (these guys are the real GYM RATS spinning that wheel hour after hour, day after day!)

My goal in preparation for my first adventure race was to do minimal to zero volume of bone-jarring, boring jogging! As it turns out I only did ONE run with more than 1 consecutive mile in it… over a 6 week prep period.

And yet, I finished the 5km long course in 30 minutes, finishing in the top 5% out of 3000 plus competitors!

So cardio training should NOT make up the majority of your training, in fact you’d be better served doing practically ZERO cardio in preparation for your race!
Do I Need To Join A Fancy Gym With Lots Of Machines?

The bare necessities, some space, simple tools and a “can do” attitude


Speaking of “Those” gyms…

One of the other myths about getting in shape, and ready for race day, is the need to join a gym and use lots of fancy equipment!

Walk in to my facility in Tempe, AZ and you’ll not see much ‘stuff’

In fact, when people walk in to my place for the first time, they are a little ‘under-whelmed’!

Thing is, all that fancy equipment you see in most commercial gyms is totally unnecessary for getting in the best shape of your life and smashing that crazy adventure race course. All the fancy equipment is just marketing to get gym memberships!

Your Bodyweight – Yes you can get an effective workout with just your bodyweight, I just need to show you how A little bit of Space – Your front room will do for most exercises, the local park for everything else! Some simple Cheap Tools- Some dumbbells, a resistance band and maybe a medicine ball is all the stuff you’ll need… oh yeah and a mat will make some exercises more comfortable!Your local “Target” store will do that lot for less than 100 bucks and it’ll last a lot longer than your gym membership!

Is Adventure Race Domination really a better home workout program than P90X, Insanity, etc…?

Short answer YES!

Let me give you a couple reason why, this program is laser focused on getting your prepared for an event, a specific day in time. Whilst other home workouts are cool, they are not set up to train you to complete tough challenges like a Tough Mudder, and keep you injury free throughout your training
What if I am orthopedically limited and can’t do certain exercises?  

Yep. This IS a potential issue for some people

Whilst we do our best to create training plans that don’t do any harm, we can’t account for EVERY eventuality in a distance education like this! As with ANY training intervention we strongly suggest you consult with a qualified physician BEFORE starting Adventure Race Domination.
Will I only be doing resistance based workouts in the program? Surely I need some cardio!

No

The workouts are a mix of tough resistance based movements designed to pack on muscle where you need it most for a powerful body. But also high intensity ‘metabolic’ conditioning exercises that will strip your body of excess fat and boost your VO2 max (which is true cardio vascular conditioning!). These high intensity sessions are like jogging on steroids, think of jogging as watching paint dry, where as metabolic routines are like setting a blow torch to the paint to dry it!
Do I Need To Do Cardio?

No, if you do the workouts in proper order and follow a solid nutrition plan you will get fantastic results, without wasting time doing cardio. You can find a new hobby or another productive way to spend you time, rather than jog another boring mile!

There is ENOUGH training in here to get spectacular results.

If you reallly MUST do something then we would recommend some recovery work, aka, stretching, foam roller, yoga, meditation, etc… This kinda “work” would be more beneficial to your overall mental and physical health than more stressful intensive training!
Where Do I Start?

You will start the program with key foundational movements and mobilisation training. Along with other base movements that will accelerate your sucess in future phases.
