Everyone wants to have that - the fairy tale "and they lived happily
ever after" scenario.

Unfortunately, this is one of those times that life does not imitate
art. If only that were the case. In real life marriage has:

* Fights over the simplest things
* Disappointment over broken promises
* A less than fulfilling feeling
* A relationship that has gotten "cold"

To the point that you think about either "playing around" or worst
find a new spouse and get a divorce. It's as if happiness in marriage
was just a dream.

Whoa nelly! Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. If you're feeling
that right now know this: You're not alone.

Many happy marriages go through this testing time. You could say this
is a test of attrition - this is where the strong marriage survive and
the weak ones falter and inevitably fall.

There Is Hope! Your marriage CAN survive this and move on - better and
stronger than before.

A Learning Experience

A couple I know got married and for them is was perhaps the happiest
moment of their lives. Why not? They were with the person they truly
loved. Everything went well for a while - the so called honeymoon
stage. Then little by little things began to change.

Little things started to irritate them. What was once cute and
appealing before they were married now became a source of annoyance
and irritation. They started to disagree with each other over the
simplest of things and little squabbles turned to quarrels which
turned to fights. I'm sure you can see where this went. Soon they had
full blown fights that often continued the next day.

To no one's surprise they started to lose the connection between them.
They were like cat and mouse - in each others throats. It got so bad
that they almost separated. Luckily for them, and for you, they
didn't.

When it became too much to handle they stepped back and realized that
should they continue on they were going to lose one another. That was
something neither of them wanted - after all they both still loved one
another.

So they both reached out to one another, put their heads together,
sought marriage advice and figured out the best way to proceed. They
talked things over, came to an understanding, and turned everything
around. It was a pleasant surprise to all our friends. The happy
couple came back the happy couple but stronger.

Arguments May Be A Sign Of Problems In Paradise

Letting Things Snowball Will Destroy The Marriage
What anyone can take away from that story is that if you let things
go as they are, things will start to snowball and before you know it
it's this one huge rampaging monster and you only have a small net to
try and stop it.

I know it could have been worst for them if they did not stop and
realize what they could have lost.

How do I know? Because I helped them get over this "testing stage" of
their marriage. It is their story as well as countless others that can
make me say this to you: DEAL WITH IT OR LOSE IT!

Why Am I Saying All These Things To You

Because I don't want your happy married life fall in the wayside. In
my experience once it falls apart, you can move heaven and earth but
nothing can ever bring things back - unless you stop it dead in its
tracks.

That has been my approach and strategy in dealing with people and
their problems.

1. I make sure that they are talking to someone that they can relate
to and be comfortable with.

2. I make sure that I become a friend that they can trust rather than
a therapist who would make a profit out of their misery.

People with relationship problems need one thing in common, they all
need someone to turn to when times get rough - and that
