If you’re like me you try to connect with God by any means possible.
If you’re like me, you may also be as exhausted as I am of the never ending proliferous flow of negativity that pervades our world today.
You know what I'm talking about.
The borage comes from talk radio, to newspapers, to mainstream media, to the internet, to talk shows, to a.m., mid day and evening magazine shows, and then there are all the so called reality shows proudly displaying people acting badly, hurting one another, cheating, lying, and stealing. Oh, and don’t forget the crime shows of rapists and serial killers…ugh!!
It’s enough to make you want to hide in a cave and never come out. You could even start believing the world is a living hell or the very least, turn a sane man insane, or an uplifted man to despair and depression.
Yes, Chicken Little must be right…
the sky is falling!
Where’s hope and inspiration?
Where’s goodness, kindness, and love?
Where’s morality, peace, and tranquility?
What about unity, and brotherly love?
Where’s God?
Well, I say it’s all here. All around us. All the time. The trick is to block out the darkness and focus on the light and the goodness that you desire.
Sometimes it’s easy to find and other times it takes a little effort. But all the good, all the love, all of God is within us, and outside of us.
We must immerse ourselves in it, at every available moment!
You are in control of the switch!
I generally avoid negative programming like the plague. Oh, its one thing to stay informed, but quite another to succumb…willingly to the constant onslaught of negativity. It ultimately crushes the spirit!
In my opinion, it’s a form of torturous mind control… and I don’t want any part of it!
It’s virtually impossible to insulate ourselves from the troubles that exist globally, locally, and within our own families.
But we can’t let it infect us, seeping insidiously into our brains, acting destructively like a poison attacking all the good cells in our bodies, and destroying us to the core of our spirit.
We must reject it using all tools available to us.
No, even I’m not immune to negative energy. It appears in one form or another in my life, too.
But when negativity, pain, and life’s troubles come my way, I turn to those things that bring a smile to my face, and put joy in my heart. I look for the good, the motivational, and the inspirational.
I turn to nature, life, love, friends, family, and music.
I try to find God whenever and wherever I can.
While especially important in challenging times, I find it equally important to do this each and every day to stay uplifted, to stay in balance, to stay in harmony, to stay grounded, to stay connected, to stay in bliss, and to… connect with and honor God—to touch God.
You may find a few of the tools I use to fortify and enliven my spirit of interest to you.
They are very special because they were gifted to me through inspiration. They are also the basis for the music I’m about to reveal to you. Let me share them with you now.
One is a personal affirmation. The other two—prayers…the first is:

“My God, My God”

When life abounds with love, joy, and happiness,
I rarely think to send a kiss.
But when darkness steals my heart away,
I cry, I cry to have you rescue me,
To end my time of misery.
My God, my God, why have I forsaken you?
It’s always I who turn away,
When I think my strength is here to stay.
But soon it fades and again I pray and pray,
To end my pain for one more day.
Will I ever learn to turn to you?
Just to send a kiss of love and gratitude.

Should daily be my words of prayer.
Instead in pain, I ask and ask,
I need, I want, are you ready for the task?
My God, my God, why have I forsaken you?

To send a hug, to send my bliss.

Just because you deserve my love.
Just because I need your love.
And on this day,
I’ll never, ever have to say,

And finally, my daily affirmation of service:
“Affirmation of Service”

I choose to carry out my day as if it is my last.
I will give freely and unconditionally that which I can.
I will provide service to one or more persons with or without their knowledge.
Thought coupled with action equals change, therefore, as I think and act, I can and will create the positive changes in my community and world.
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve humanity today.
I personally use these prayers and affirmation daily. On good days and bad. When I’m on a high…and when I hit a low.
Over the years I have been blessed with praise from people who embraced and used my prayers and affirmation. They have kindly and generously shared with me the positive impact those words have made in their own lives. I am humbled and grateful. My hope is that you will also benefit from using them.

How?
Inspiration once again graciously descended upon me and encouraged me to set my two prayers to music and record the affirmation of service.
Slowly, I began hearing melodies in my head—listening and humming until the musical pictures started to take shape.
I love music!
It brings a great joy to my life. But I wasn’t blessed with any particular musical skill.
I don’t sing well and I don’t play an instrument.
Oh, I played an instrument—the organ, when I was a kid and can still read music, but that’s about the extent of it.
However, I do have a good ear and I know what I like and what moves me.
So, I’ve taken each prayer and turned them into songs.
Each is decidedly different from the other—unique in the feel, characteristic, tone and musical style.
Anyone who enjoys music and appreciates different styles will thoroughly enjoy these songs.
Unfortunately, I had no clue how to create the musical adaptation of my prayers, but I sensed the flavor of the music I desired.
Clearly, I, also, wanted just the right people to be involved.
The music had to come from love.
After all, this is where God lives.
I needed people with good caring hearts, loving, with a deep spirituality.
So, I turned to a very creative, talented, spiritual and giving person…my friend…Todd Silva of Sagetone Productions. http://sagetone.com

I met with Todd, discussed my vision, and shared my feelings about the two types of music I wanted for the prayers. I had him listen to a sample of two singers I had chosen for the vocals and then turned him loose to create…and create he did!
I wasn’t disappointed.
In fact, I was blown away!
He knocked the first one right out of the ballpark…a bonafide certain home run!
The first song we collaborated on was my prayer, “Lord God You Are My Creator”.
I felt this prayer song needed a strong, uplifting, yet angelic voice that could handle a high range.
After tweaking a few things here and there on the melody and instrumentals to satisfy my vision and internal monitor, we needed the voice.
My choice: Kathy Woods, a marvelously talented singer with a beautiful voice, yet relatively unknown.
She can sing most any type of music, but her style lends itself wonderfully for what I envisioned.
I’ve enjoyed listening to her sing for, believe it or not, for over forty years!
Not only does she embody the description I previously mentioned, she is a warm, kind, and loving person who has given to and served others her entire life. She has blessed many churches and communities with her talent—from choirs…to solos… to church CD’s.

“My God, My God”
This time I wanted the heart, soul and spectacular flavor that is the blues with a little rock and roll.
Todd, once again, went to work.
Shifting gears in his head completely.
The two songs are different—very different, much like the difference between a Rolls Royce and a Ferrari; both magnificent creations, beautiful, powerful, dynamic, but unequivocally…different!
When Todd unveiled the music for me to listen to, I was absolutely jaw dropped open, blown away.
Wildly in love with a ….MASTER PIECE again!
Next, I needed a voice. I chose: Gail Best
She has a sultry, smoky voice…a perfect match for my vision…my creation…my baby.
I knew these were the two voices I wanted before Todd created the music and I must say they are perfect matches for the songs.
Gail, too, is a loving, and caring servant to others.
A talented singer and musician, she has used her musical blessing for years, volunteering at retirement communities, assisted living facilities, and in hospice settings.
This is where, as Gail puts it, she found her “calling in life”.
Gail then went on to become a certified music practitioner providing musical healing for patients in hospitals and hospices.
