The title ‘nutritionist’ is not legally protected in many countries, including The UK, parts of Canada, and most of the USA. There are many, many websites on the Internet that claim to be sources of ‘expert advice’ from nutritionists, so you need to be very careful and check the source.

This is a shame, because there are lots of good nutritionists out there who really are experts and doing good work, but unfortunately it can be very difficult to know who is telling the truth and who isn’t, especially on the Internet.

However the title ‘dietitian’ is legally protected and can only be used by people who have met specific professional requirements. A dietitian is the gold standard of the nutrition world.

Registered Dietitian (RD) with a Bachelor of Science (BSc), Rachel Redman has been a practicing dietitian for almost a decade. A Study Conducted By The Harvard University School of Medicine Found  A Significant Relationship Between A Mother’s Diet During Pregnancy And Her Baby’s Health At Birth

This is one of the many studies showing the link between your baby’s health and what you’re eating when you’re pregnant. The researchers found that if the diet of the mother during pregnancy was poor to very poor, she undoubtedly had an infant whose physical condition was poor.

Of the 216 babies considered, all stillborn infants, all those who died within a few days of birth (except one), most who had congenital defects, were premature, or functionally immature had mothers whose diets during pregnancy were poor or inadequate.

However, if the mother’s diet during pregnancy was good or excellent, her infant would in all probability be in good or excellent physical condition.
