HEART ATTACK… BUT I'M
TOO YOUNG!
A PERSONAL STORY
"AS A HEALTHY 45 YEAR OLD, HAVING A HEART ATTACK WAS NEVER ON MY RADAR
I WAS INCREDIBLY WRONG"
I NAïVELY THOUGHT ONLY OLDER PEOPLE HAD HEART ATTACKS AND WHEN IT
HAPPENED TO ME I WAS COMPLETELY UNPREPARED.
WHY DID I WRITE THIS BOOK? I had a heart attack at 45 and struggled
to find meaningful information to help process what had happened to
me. This book is a story of my journey and the information I have
gathered along the way, which has proved invaluable in assisting me to
get my life back on track.
After my heart attack I read books which just quoted statistics and
medical studies, with no real worthwhile content. I scoured the
internet and the outcome was the same. It was very isolating sitting
up late at night searching the internet for information, reading the
doom and gloom statistics which left me wondering how long was I going
to live. This didn’t help me, I didn’t gain anything positive from
it, it just left me feeling anxious and depressed.
Writing this book has helped me to understand what happened to me
physically and has also given me invaluable tools on how to cope
emotionally. If you are not coping emotionally then your physical
recovery takes twice as long.
I realise everyone’s journey through a major traumatic event like a
heart attack is different. But the changes you need to make are within
your reach and this book will take you through your journey. My
journey will be ongoing for the rest of my life.
This wealth of information can provide you with powerful tools to
prevent this happening to you. Being in control and re-educating
yourself about easy lifestyle changes provides you with a sense of
confidence for a healthy future.
IF YOU HAVE TRIED TO FIND WORTHWHILE GUIDANCE AND INFORMATION, AND
LIKE ME, SPENT ENDLESS HOURS WASTING TIME THEN THIS BOOK IS DEFINITELY
FOR YOU!
I struggled to find meaningful information to help me process what
had happened. I found bits and pieces of information in a hundred
different places, but nothing that could give me a comprehensive view
of everything I needed to know in the one spot to help me recover and
move forward. I found this frustrating and very time consuming.
“HEART ATTACK! BUT I’M TOO YOUNG TO HAVE A HEART ATTACK” WERE
THE SOUL SHATTERING WORDS I UTTERED WHEN I WAS TOLD THAT THE NAUSEA
AND CHEST PAIN I WAS FEELING WASN’T CAUSED BY A BAD CASE OF
INDIGESTION.
I was so shocked I could barely speak, the tears just rolled down my
face. To make matters worse, the Emergency doctor didn’t believe me
- he thought I was attention seeking.
That awful moment changed my life forever. To say my world came
crashing down around me is an understatement.
BY READING THIS 245 PAGE POWERHOUSE OF INFORMATION ON HOW TO MAKE
CRUCIAL LIFESTYLE CHANGES TO PREVENT HEART DISEASE, YOU ARE MAKING A
SOLID INVESTMENT IN YOUR FUTURE HEALTH AND WELLBEING – AND REMEMBER,
IF THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF HEART DISEASE, IT’S IMPERATIVE TO KEEP IT
THAT WAY!
Being an avid reader with a myriad of interests, I am always looking
for new and interesting books to read. While browsing on the internet
recently, I stumbled upon an interesting e-book entitled Heart Attack!
But I’m too young to have a heart attack…, written by Leanne
Sexton. I was immediately intrigued by the book’s title, and thought
that it deserved more than just a cursory read. Imagine my alarm when
I learned that Ms. Sexton, someone who reportedly maintained a very
healthy lifestyle, had suffered a heart attack at the age of 45. I was
hooked, as I found myself mesmorized by Ms. Sexton’s detailed
account of her obviously harrowing and alarming experience. She shares
with her readers the long and arduous road she took in order to
recover, but fortunately, the author had the tenacity and sheer will
to survive this life-threatening ordeal.
As a result of this life-changing experience, Ms. Sexton appears to
have seized this opportunity to become fully educated about every
aspect of heart health. And in doing so, she has compiled a remarkably
detailed book, one that will provide its readers with much-needed and
very valuable information. Without a doubt, Heart Attack! But I’m
too young to have a heart attack… will ultimately prove to be an
indispensable resource to people of all ages, but in particular, to
younger, unsuspecting people who aren’t necessarily informed about
heart health.
I applaud Leanne Sexton’s efforts and thank her for sharing her
wealth of information with people around the world.
I. RIVERA, LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA _DEAR FRIEND_
_My name is Leanne Sexton and at the age of 45 I suffered a heart
attack that could have taken my life._
_I'm not overweight, am vegetarian, have never smoked, only have the
occasional glass of wine and was healthy, so what happened to me
should never have happened, but it did._
_Although I was with family I felt so scared and alone. The feelings
of helplessness and isolation just washed over me and covered me with
a total sense of despair which left me wondering how on earth I was
going to get through this. I felt emotionally and physically
exhausted. I struggled with self doubt, wondering if I had the courage
and faith to pull myself together, to fight back to a healthy heart._
_This is my story. If you had told me 18 months ago that my world
would be turned upside down by a major health scare, my immediate
thought would have been something like breast cancer, as I guess we
all think that cancer may be the big one that will get us in the end.
But I was totally and alarmingly wrong. _
MY CARDIOLOGIST TOLD ME THAT HEART DISEASE IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST
KILLERS IN THE WORLD, TAKING MILLIONS OF PEOPLE EVERY YEAR. I WAS
SHOCKED TO HEAR THIS.
_In hospital there is a certain level of comfort that if anything
goes wrong there will be immediate assistance. But what happens when
you get home and it’s just you? I can tell you its scary, you feel
anxious and isolated._
_It’s never too early or too late for change! Amazingly even
children in these modern times of junk food have high cholesterol and
there’s plenty of evidence that older people who make heart healthy
changes will reap the benefits._

This book is a great wake up call for those who think heart attacks
are just for old people. It has many easy and practical ways to reduce
the chance of heart problems and other health-related issues, and has
made me more mindful of diet choices. It's interesting to note that
heart-related problems can affect you, even if there is no family
history. The illustrations throughout the book are very clear, and
indicate just how easily all the "bad stuff" can build up and create
serious problems than can affect you for the rest of your life. I'd
recommend this book to anyone who is even slightly interested in their
long-term health. The old saying "Prevention is better than cure"
absolutely applies.
