The Complete Guide To Adoption Horses
“How To Adopt A Beautiful, Healthy, Loving Horse That You'll Bond With Immediately, And That You'll Love For Years To Come... ”
Warning: There Are Dozens Of Costly And Time Consuming Mistakes That People Make When Adopting A Horse. Keep Reading To Find Out What They Are...
After working at a stable for five years, all I ever wanted was a horse of my own. Dad was never going to buy me one, even though he said he would one day. I don't blame him, it's a lot of money after all.
One of the instructors at a riding school told me about adoption horses, and it seemed like a perfect option for my budget.
However, I still knew that I had to be careful with adoption horses, as there is more chance to lose or burn money.
For example, there's the health issues, the training aspects, age problems, or just simply picking the wrong type of horse for your needs.
But the joy of saddling up and riding for hours whenever I wanted to was just too strong to put me off.
Horses are smart, strong and beautiful. I'm sure you'll agree that it's worth every penny to fulfil your childhood dream of owning a horse... but still, if you're anything like me, you don't want to make a bad decision when choosing a horse either.
Even though it would become my pet, my partner and my friend, I wanted to make sure I wasn't biting off more than I could chew with a horse that was going to require a lot of expert attention and additional healthcare from day one.
All I wanted was a companion, a social status, a past time and a beautiful animal to call my own. Just like you, I wanted to be part of the contests, shows, and master different types of riding styles.
But when you pick the wrong horse, none of those things are possible.
That's why love at first sight is a dangerous way to pick a horse. That's why I'm writing this letter to you today, to show you how to pick the right horse, for the right money, and how to look after it for life.
So the first question is...
How Do You Find That Perfect Horse?
First of all, most people may find buying a horse to be too expensive. The great news is, rescue and adoption centers have many horses that you can adopt for a fraction of the price, and give you the option to either visit or actually keep the horse on your own property.
This was a revelation to me, and was my secret to owning my first horse without my parents stressing out over the usual costs.
However, there's still a problem...
You see, there's a lot that goes into choosing the right adoption horse. Many people don't realize that there are several aspects you need to consider before you make your decision.
I'm going to show you exactly what to look for, affordable ways to adopt a horse, and how to actually take care of your new horse.
And that's going to be important, because there are so many things that can go wrong in the process, and I don't think you should learn the hard - and expensive - way like so many others have to.
For example, here are just some of the things that can go wrong...
The Top 7 Mistakes To Avoid When Buying An Adoption Horse...
1. Buying an untrained horse.
They may be cheaper, but training is hard work and takes months. It can also be dangerous if not done right, so please bare this in mind.
2. Buying a young horse for their children to ‘grow up with’.
Older horses are a far better option for younger children, because they won't bolt or flinch like a young horse often does. It's a nice idea, but stick with older horses for young children, in the pure interest of safety.
3. Impulse buying.
Lots of people see one horse and then make irrational decisions because "they love it and just have to have that one." This is seldom a smart or sensible way to choose a horse, no matter how easy it is to fall into this way of thinking (we've all been there!) The problem is, there's many other aspects of that horse which you need to know about, otherwise you'll be wasting time and money for years to come.
4. Not Asking for a Trial Period.
Rescue centers care where their horses end up, or who adopts them. Therefore, they should agree to let you have the horse on a trial period to see how you bond. This shows that you care, and shows that the rescue center cares too. With two caring parties, you can be sure that the horse has been/will be looked after. Plus, with a trial period, you can make sure you are not rushing into anything you might later regret.
5. Buying “Too Much Horse”.
If you're a beginner rider, then a 16-17h horse is not going to be too kind on you. Larger horses are not a good match for learners. It may look nice, and match the image in your mind's eye, but you'll be putting yourself in danger and possibly jeopardising your own learning curve as a result.
6. Buying a Horse of a Particular Color
Color really isn’t important in the grand scheme of things. You will find that you will love your horse no matter what color, but you won’t love your horse if the only reason you picked that particular horse was based on its color alone. There are many aspects to a horse that you should consider, and color is probably the last on the list…if at all!
7. Not Considering Your Maintenance Budgets/Responsibilities
Horses are not cheap to own. They eat and drink a lot, they need exercise, they need training, they need regular grooming. These things cost money and take time. If you're sure that you are willing to give up both of those things to look after your new horse then you'll be fine.
These are just SOME of the pitfalls that come with buying an adoption horse, there are many more. That's why I decided to compile all of the mistakes, tips, techniques and well practised advice for buying adoption horses into one single resource...

I've already given you some very real advice that works, but I know you want and need more.

Do you want to take it home, or should you use a livery? That's another aspect I cover in the following guide.
Plus, it will be crucial that you know how to find out the true age of a horse, how to assess their health by yourself, and how much room the horse will need.
Then there's the safety, regulations and laws... if you don't know what these are, you could land yourself in very hot water without knowing it.
Then there's the actual care and maintenance... you'll need to know basic horse care, when to ride your horse, the required exercise for your horse, feeding, and possibly how to retrain the horse (which is common with adopted horses.)

So there's one last question for you...
What Would You Do Without This Information?
What if you picked the wrong horse, based on the wrong physical attributes? Maybe your horse turns out older than you thought it was. Maybe your horse has medical problems that need attending to.
Maybe your horse has had many riders and become what is known as "bomb proof", meaning they practically ignore all commands because they are so desensitized.
Just think of the costs involved with buying or adopting a horse.. do you really want that horse to be sick, scared, untrainable or unable to walk on roads?
The medical bills, time spent training and trying to reverse the damage done... is it really what you want? Is that really something you can afford?
These are just some of the reasons why I truly believe a small investment in this horse adoption guide is worth every single penny.
And for these reasons, it wouldn't be unusual to charge as much as $97 for this information, especially considering the fact that there's no other central resource like it out there.
