but I do make A LOT of money by creating businesses online.
My proudest accomplishment came last year when I moved out of my
parents' home and into a place of my own.
It may not sound like a lot, but when you find out my story you start
to realize how great of a moment this was for an underachiever like
me.
When I was in college, I tried all kinds of sales. My first sales job
was selling Cutco knives (a lot of college students in my area did
that sort of thing).
Well, I stuck with that job for 9 months, going on a bunch of no sale
appointments to make after all that work -- a measly 500 bucks (it was
straight commission, and obviously I didn't make that many sales).
That started off a run of different sales jobs where I sought out to
be paid what I felt "I was worth." Sales jobs in the mortgage industry
and the healthcare industry all accounted for entry level pay and not
very much in the results department.
I was only able to pay off my pocket money for the month and wasn't
able to save much of it at all as it went to bills, loans, and so
forth.
I could tell my parents were dissapointed. I kept telling my mom I
was on my way to hitting something big, I just didn't know what. She
worried about me a ton and I know as much as she loved me, she just
didn't know if I'd ever find any success at this rate.
At times, I wondered if I might ever find success as well. After
giving up on the whole direct sales thing, I decided to give myself
one last shot and try to make money online as I'd been hearing about
other people doing it for so long.
You can guess what my mom said. In fact, it's just about what
everybody else close to me ever told me at that time. "_It's all a
scam. You'll never make it._" Funny thing is, when people tell me
stuff like that, I just get more determined to make it happen.
Long story short, I did. Here's a timeline of that first year:
_END OF NOVEMBER, (THANKSGIVING WEEKEND)_ - Made my first dollar
online! Through Adwords and Affiliate Marketing. _DECEMBER_ -
Attended my first seminar, Matt Bacak's "Marketing Madness Live" in
Atlanta, Georgia. - The people there were awesome. My eyes were wide
open at all the (they were
intimidating to me then, ) "internet marketing celebrities".
_FROM THEN - MARCH_ - A whole lot of studying and learning Internet
Marketing basics, and really a bunch of sitting on my butt and not
taking enough action on what I'd learned. But hey, I still had some
money coming in and it was good enough for me at that point.
In hindsight, that's one of the lessons I'm taking into this next
year -- "stop sitting on your butt!"
You'd think it was easy enough when you tell yourself the first time.
It's a lesson I've had to learn over and over again. But thankfully,
I've gotten much better at beating this. _APRIL_ - Began working
with Matthew Glanfield, learning a lot and very quickly starting to
realize how serious all this really is (kinda hard not to catch it
when you work with someone like Matt)
_MAY_ - June - Continuing to make things happen and saving money in
the process. Restructuring my business since the summer began.
July - Saved up enough money over the year from my online businesses,
enough to move out into my own place (and away from the parents! if
you were curious, they're both proud of me, but my mom especially
misses me being at home -- love you mom!).
Furnish the place from scratch, everything is brand new (from my
furniture, to my appliances, to my computer, my 50 inch plasma.. )
_AUGUST_ - October - Enjoying my newfound freedom in my own place,
getting to work from home, continuing to grow my business.
_NOVEMBER_ - Bought my first watch (that was not from Walmart like
my college days -- still love those watches though),
and my first new car (yes, you're looking at a BMW) as a Birthday
treat to myself.
_DECEMBER_ - Couldn't wait for Christmas - bought myself my first
laptop and a PS3 (oh great more distractions!)
_FEBRUARY - _Dropping everything else and transitioning into the
Internet Marketing niche.
_AUGUST - _Proposed to my girlfriend (now my wife, whoo hoO!), taking
a vacation to do some wedding planning (which never seems to stop).

because I'm leaving out stories about my other niche products and how
they went. For now, I'll show a little bit, but really, I'm doing just
fine without needing to invite more competition, thanks. _ )
_PRESENT DAY - _Back to rockin' it online! JOIN ME?
Okay, so there's a few of the good memories of the past couple years.
I left out about 80% of the cool stories that happened because of
internet marketing for me (I'll spare you, we both know what you
really want to know about is how my experiences are going to help you
