Learn what it will take to survive

60 Page e-book reveals 7 survivor stories

"There is often a perception that life following a heart attack is dramatically changed and different. I found out that many times life can be much better. Sometimes you can have a better life than before. You know, before maybe you didn't feel so good.  A lot of times people are under stress and that leads to a heart attack; but afterwards you learn how to deal with it. Now, I don't have any pain. I have a good life."

That's part of Jan's survival story ... read on and discover the inspirational stories from six other incredible heart attack survivors

Dear friend

My Grandmother died when I was 18.  I am sad to say that she became victim of  a heart attack.  I came home from work one day...  When I opened the door all I saw was my Mum crying in agony by the telephone.  She was on the phone to my Grandpa.   I ran to my Mum as fast as I could and asked her "what's wrong Mum?".

She told me my Gran had a massive heart attack!

From that instant my life changed forever. I can still remember the shivering pulse running through my body.

The feeling I got when I heard the news was sickening.  It felt like somebody had punched me in the stomach.  I felt like my world had been ripped apart and I wondered if there was any way my adoring Gran could survive.

The worst part of our ordeal was not knowing what would happen next.  We didn't know if she would survive the next week, or the next month, or the next year.

You see my Gran suffered from heart disease and had a few minor heart attacks  prior to this one.  She became so weak and despondent after her last heart attack because she believed the best of her life was over.... She believed she was going to die soon. I tried in vain to find out everything possible about heart attacks but there was just too much information out there.

If you, or someone you love, has suffered a heart attack or has heart disease, then this is going to be one of the most important message you'll ever read.

Here's why:

There's so much information out there about heart attacks and heart disease that sometimes you will be overwhelmed and won't know where to start....I had the same problem after my Gran suffered a heart attack!  I didn't know where to start or how I could help her.

I started researching and surfing the internet for any information on heart attacks. I found lots of clinical sites, which spoke about “atherosclerosis” and “ACE inhibitors”. I felt like I was learning a whole new language.

I became quite frustrated and confused with the huge volume of information that was there, especially when so much of it was written in medical jargon. I have studied at university in a health degree, yet I still found the information confusing!

There was no way I could find the information she needed to survive.

The doctors were explaining about "Myocardial Infarctions" and "Beta Blockers", but my family and I needed an explanation:  In plain English!!  We wanted to know if people could beat the odds given to them by doctors and beat a heart attack!

As well as this, there were websites selling numerous herbs and tonics, and promising mind-blowing cures. The sceptic in me thought “I guess if people are that sick they’ll try anything”. I questioned to myself whether my Gran would gain from trying these alternative therapies, and if so, how I would choose between them. It was all too confusing!

Don’t make the fatal mistake I did!

So, if you are afraid and need a helping hand then look no further.  Help is here at last. My only wish is that I had access to these success stories which could of saved my Gran, or given her the hope to live on.

You see, I didn't have this information when I really needed it.  I've recently put together an e-book called "How I Survived a Heart Attack and How You Can Too: 7 Heart Attack Survivors Share How They Escaped Death". In it, you'll discover 7 amazing people with one lethal thing in common ... they all had a heart attack.

But you know what the most wonderful thing is? All 7 of these encouraging people survived a heart attack and are living a much stronger and colourful life than ever before. They're "living proof" that having a heart attack is not the end of the world, rather the start of a new world and a new life.

There is light at the end of the tunnel.

We all know that time is precious.  You shouldn't need to be confused about what  to do or how to survive a heart attack.

Wouldn't it make sense to have all the information you require in one place, written in an easy-to-understand everyday language that won't confuse you?  Wouldn't it be good if you could have it right now?  You CAN!!
I knew there must be other people out there who were going through the same trouble we did.  I eventually found answers.  People do survive heart attacks and change their lives.
I wish I knew someone who had survived a heart attack earlier!

Recently I met a remarkable heart attack survivor. Peter is still living even after 16 years since his initial heart attack. He had a near death experience which made him explore many different methods of treatment and ways which he could improve his life and live longer and stronger. He was a wealth of knowledge in how to beat a heart attack.  He was walking proof of success.

I wish I knew someone like Peter when my Gran was still alive. His life experience of a heart attack is priceless...

One by one, I began running into more survivors. More began to appear. It's amazing what information you can find if you dare to search...

I found extraordinary people who had refused to accept death as an option, and who refused to simply lie down and be told that they cannot live a normal life again. People who survived and lived an amazing full life!

Their stories and will to survive need to be shared with everyone.

It became clear to me, that their stories needed to be heard.  Heart attacks sufferers around the world neededan all-inclusive, easy to use, non-threatening and affirmative book about how to survive heart attacks.  It was so much needed, and for that reason I have written "how to survive a heart attack, and how you can beat it".  Peter's story was one of these.  This book will potentially help to raise much needed funds for future research.

Please take action and don't experience
the pain of losing a loved one!

My family has had personal experience with heart attacks.  I understand that there are some questions that everybody wants answered.  That's why I started with a chapter of Frequently Asked Questions. This will give you up-to-date, well-researched, easy-to-read, plain-English, practical answers to the questions that were going around in my head. Questions like:

1. What causes a heart attack?
They are so common, but surprisingly people don't even know what happens during a heart attack.  Why is it so lethal?  I wanted to know why doctors were so worried when my Gran had her first heart attack.

2. What is a heart disease and how does it relate to a heart attack?
I always thought they were the same thing... but they are different.  What's the difference?  Are they both fatal?

3. Who is most at risk of developing a heart attack?
Men versus Women? Older versus middle age?  Am I likely to have one because my Gran did?

4. How can a heart attack be prevented?
I have heard that heart attacks can be prevented.  I know about all the major risk factors like high cholesterol and blood pressure... but what else?  What do I have to change to make sure I don't have a heart attack? Could my Gran have prevented hers?

5. How do I know if I’m vulnerable of having a heart attack? What are the signs and symptoms?
Is it family history?  Does it matter if I drink or smoke?  If I get chest pain does that automatically mean it's a heart attack?

6. How do I differentiate an angina pain from a pain caused by heart attack?
What if you get chest pain?  Is it fatal?  What's the difference between angina and heart attacks anyway?

7. One of my family members had a heart attack. Does that mean I'll have one too?
I often wonder if heart disease runs in family gene pools.  My Gran had a heart attack.  Does this mean I will too?

8. Are women as prone to Heart Disease as men?
I had heard that Men have more heart attacks and heart disease than women... Is this true?  Why?  If so why was my Gran having a heart attack and my Grandpa was ok?

9. Once after having a heart attack and receiving treatment will I get another attack?
Does all treatment cure heart attacks, or avoid future heart attacks?  Will the doctor be able to tell me if I will get another heart attack?

10. What kind of doctor do I see if I suspect I have a heart attack?
Most people go to their GP or hospital first...  Is this the right thing to do?  Does a cardiologist operate?

11. What tests will the doctor carry out to see if I have a heart attack?
ECG? Bloods? What are the tests and why do they do them?  There are so many tests and they are too confusing!

[]12. How curable is a heart attack?
Can it be cured?  There are people who seem to do quite well after a heart attack, while for others, its fatal!

13. What happens if I left untreated?
What would happen if I chose to not take the medications my doctor prescribed?  Are lifestyle factors really that important?  What happens if we can't change them straight away?

14. How is it normally treated?
What do most other people do and how effective is it?

[]15. What alternative treatments are available?
I had heard about alternative therapy, but which ones work after heart attacks?  Which ones are effective and which are "snake oils"?  Are these meant to replace medicine, or assist?

16. How do I get in touch with survivors of heart attacks?
Sometimes it helps just to talk to others who have been in the same situation.  It helps to know that all the grief, anxiety and sadness we were experiencing was normal, and that we could get through it.

17. How/Where do I get counseling?
Where do I find a credible counsellor who works with heart attack survivors?  Is there any in my area?

18. What support groups are available for heart attack sufferers or friends and family?
I thought that a support group could have helped my Gran and my family, but I just didn't know where to turn.  Are there really groups out there that can help with both the medical and emotional support we needed?

All of a sudden I had some answers! I have put them all in the book!

seen enough?

I have also interviewed seven people who have survived a heart attack. These stories aren't just heart warming stories. They are real, without fear or favour, "this is what happened” stories. True stories, about real people, who had beaten all of the Doctor's survival odds and won the battle against heart attack!

The stories are not just about the clinical stuff, the stuff that most of the other websites are going on about. It's the emotional stuff, the mental attitude of these survivors that I find so incredibly valuable. All of the survivors in my book have something inside them that said “I have to beat this thing. I’m not going to let it get to me.”  Read about what they did and how they thought.  There is a mix of western and alternative treatments included...

Lynn's Story

First, there is Lynn's story.  Lynn had her first heart attack when she was 55.  She had experienced several months of symptoms prior to her heart attack.  Like many other victims she shrugged them off and continued on with her life.  After her heart attack, the initial attempts to unblock her deadly blood clot were botched.  As a result she was 'clinically dead' and was rushed to have life saving surgery.  Lynn made it through surgery to win the fight of her life.  She has made life changes and is still around to tell her story 9 years later!

Monica's Story

Next, there is Monica's story.  The saddest thing about Monica's story is that she was only 32 years old and lived a healthy life with her husband and children when she had her heart attack!  She first experienced pressure in her chest and jaw, and felt generally unwell.   Like anyone in her position would, she went to get a check-up at her GP.  Monica was told to go IMMEDIATELY to hospital because she was having a heart attack!  She talks candidly about her feelings "I was so scared and didn't know what was going on".

Jan's Story

Then, there is Jan's story.  Jan was 50 when she had her heart attack - the exact same age as her father when he died of a heart attack.  The fear she experienced was overwhelming  "I just began crying.  I had a young child, my daughter was only 12 years old and I just kept thinking:  am I going to make it?  I had witnessed my parents' death.  It was scary".

Marietta's Story

It was New Years Eve, Marietta was engaged to a wonderful Man and had 2 kids of her own when her life changed.  Marietta talks openly of the events during her heart attack "I needed to call my Mother to let her know what was going on and ask her to take care of my kids - possibly forever".  She was in a horrible state emotionally and physically.  Marietta needed to be strong and fight to be alive; if not for herself... for her children.

Bruce's Story

Bruce had unusual heart attack symptoms  "At first I thought it was the flu since I hadn't had a flu shot that year.  After Bruce had his heart attack he realized "it's important to keep an open mind and willingness to try new things - especially in the diet department.  The main thing is to realize you can recover and live a relatively normal life".

Mike's Story

Mike was 44 years old when he had his heart attack "I was adopted so I didn't know my family history".  He opens up about his recovery "Depression is there after a heart attack.  So are emotions".  Seeing his daughter kept him going but at the same time the thought scares him that he won't be around to see her graduate, or get married.

Peter's Story

Last, but definitely not least is Peter's story.  He is alive to tell his story 16 years after his heart attack!  "I didn't think I would live through it - I didn't know anyone who had!"  He, like many others, experienced depression after his heart attack.  He hadn't heard any survivor stories... which made things a little more uncertain for him.  Peter went on to make the changes he needed to survive, and live a full life.

After reading "How I Survived a Heart Attack and How You Can Too: 7 Heart Attack Survivors Share How They Escaped Death" you will have a new lease on life.  You will be more aware of the mental attitude it takes to survive.  Enjoy your new, more positive outlook!

All of the survivors in the book have one thing in common.  Apart from the fact that all of these people suffered a heart attack, they all kept positive even at the most trying moments. It seemed to me reading all the stories that this was critical to their survival. It wasn’t just the surgery or the medications.  It was their attitudes to their disease.  I learnt things that I hadn’t found anywhere else.
