How Can You Explain Fractions so That Your Child Understands and
Remembers It 3 Times Faster and Have 10 Times More Fun Doing It?
You are trying to explain to your child what a fraction is and you
are struggling to make it more fun and enjoyable experience for both
of you. The math workbook did not help as much and every time math is
mentioned you see that face expression that means “not againâ€.
Math is somehow associated with hard work and not only for your child
but for you as well. You tried a few things and they did not work.
Even if they work for a while, it looks like new concepts are fast
forgotten and you have to explain the same thing over and over again.
Now imagine this! You just picked a book from the shelf and are
about to read a story to your child. On the cover you see sun, blue
sky, green grass and eight bunnies. Your child is next to you and you
see in his or her eyes all the fun he or she is going to have, green
fields, sun, animals, adventures and bright pictures. You know that he
or she will discover something new, something that he or she did not
hear about before. And you are ready to start right away. You want to
see together all the pictures and what characters in the book look
like. You want to see what they are going to do next and imagine what
you would do if you were in their place. And you and your child like
the best short stories that you can read right away and know how story
ended. It also helps to have a lot of pictures to look at. It might be
good to read the story yourself, so that your child can just listen
and look at the pictures. This gives him or her more time to imagine.
So you take the time to sit or lay down with your child and slowly
read the story or let your child read it to you. You encourage your
child to imagine being one of the eight bunnies. You as well might
enjoy taking on a role of mama or papa bunny. Does this look like a
hard work? Not at all! It looks like play to me. What if you could
read a story and call it a work in the same time? That would be good.
Have fun and then have some more fun.
Now you are thinking how can a story explain math and if this is
really going to work. Usually when you hear math, you are thinking
only about numbers and not so much about words.
The thing is that our brain loves stories. And one of the best ways
to learn new things is to listen to stories and examples of new
things. Learning with stories is much easier and much faster.
Do you remember how you started playing the sport you like the most?
You heard stories of one of the players and how he learned to play. Or
it was maybe a story about your parents, older brother or sister or
even your cousins. And you also looked at pictures or watched it on
TV. Then you wanted to be like them. You had to try.
The same can be with math. Maybe nobody told you this before, but it
is true. Story can help you understand how math is used in park, on a
trip, in the space, store, and in home. Of course, after you hear a
story and understand how it works, you will want to try how it works.
And you will have fun doing it since now you will understand how it
works.
When you are collecting something like stamps, marbles, trading
card, dolls, or anything else it is fun to know how many different
pieces there are. And when you count them, it is fun. And it is math
in the same time.
When you need to share an orange with your friends, it is fun and it
is math in the same time.
And when you are counting coins because you are not sure if there is
enough money in your piggy bank for the toy you really want to buy,
that is also math.
But you do not notice it. Why? Because it is fun and you understand
how to count.
This and other books by Mr. Mantis will not only help your child
understand fractions faster, but will also help him or her remember
faster as well. We all remember fun, loving and safe moments better.
Did you notice how kids forget parts of what they learned after
summer vacation and how you need to explain it again? And again after
the next summer and summer after that? So next time you have to remind
your child what fractions are, would you like to say, “Remember when
we were adding one fourth plus one fourth?†Or would you rather say,
“Remember the story of eight bunnies? Do you remember when only
three came out first?†What do you think your kids will remember
faster? Which question will put a smile on their faces? And if you
learned adding numbers by reading about one, two, three pink elephants
or army of ants then remembering how to count becomes even more fun.
Two plus two is four. But two paws plus two paws, yellow hear, body,
tail, big brown eyes, ears, head and tongue makes a puppy with four
legs. Which is more fun? Which are you going to remember faster and
smile a bit when you remember?
Spend quality time with your child, full of love, joy and fun and
open a new road of knowledge that will last a lifetime. Read to your
child as often as they would like. Have fun today!
Realize that new concepts are seldom, if ever, absorbed with your
first exposure. For the best results, new information must be repeated
at least six times. Every time you read new information you experience
and absorb it in a different way. That is why we would like you to
read the story at least six times with your child. Make reading
stories a daily habit. If you feel good about reading and teaching in
this new way and wish to make it a permanent habit, continue
practicing it for 21 consecutive days. That is how long it takes to
start a new habit.
If after reading the story at least 6 times, you don’t find it
satisfactory please let us know and we will refund you the money. You
can keep the eBook. Since we are using Click Bank, the maximum period
for getting a refund is 60 days. What we would like from you is the
proof that you used the book, what was your child’s comment about
the book and what in your opinion is lacking that if it was there
would make the book much better and acceptable for you.
