So why Use Uk Horse Racing All Weather Tracks?
The all weather horse racing tracks in the Uk have many statistics that seem to be very consistent throughout the year, so this was a very good starting point. Its a well known fact that certain horses perform far better on certain tracks and on in certain conditions this is especially true when it comes down to the all weather horse racing tracks in the Uk.
My Factor 4 horse racing system is based around numerous statistical facts and numerous other guide lines that I personally check before giving out my daily selections. Below are just some of the all weather horse racing statistics that I take into consideration:
• The Conditions
There are two types of horse racing all weather surfaces currently in the UK. Fibresand is now only used at Southwell whilst all the other courses are using Polytrack. Fibresand (Southwell) This is the slowest of the two surfaces and is more demanding on the horse and jockey. The results produced on this surface are similar to the results of turf races on soft ground - runners usually finish strung out and race times are slower compared to the Polytrack surface. Polytrack (Lingfield, Wolverhampton, Kempton, Great Leighs)
Polytrack is a much fairer surface to the race horse, there is less jarring and virtually no kickback. Polytrack is a much faster surface than Fibresand. The going will be similar to good / good to firm on the turf.
• Draw Biases
A draw bias exists if there is a distinct advantage to horses drawn in certain stall positions. This usually happens if the surface the horses run on is different on one part of the course compared to another; it can also happen if the shape of the course provides a shorter route to the winning post (such as on the inside of a bend). All five all weather courses should have natural draw biases due to the shape of the circuit. Left handed courses such as Wolverhampton, Lingfield and Southwell should naturally offer an advantage to those runners drawn closest to the rail (drawn low). Kempton is a right handed course so this should be advantageous to horses draw high. One problem though is that the all weather surface can be manipulated to negate any draw bias. Polytrack is the easiest surface to manipulate - it is so versatile that the ground staff could vary the going across the complete width of the track. Draw biases can be affected by rain. After a prolonged wet spell or recent heavy rain the all weather surface firms up much in the same way that sand on a beach will get firmer the closer you get to the shoreline. In this instance a temporary draw bias can be created which overrides any intended draw bias negation. What you may find is that the natural draw bias of low on the left handed courses, and high at Kempton should be more evident.
• Race Horses & Their Sires
Some horse racing flat turf race courses have 'racecourse specialists' but on the all weather there are many more racehorses which relish the fibresand or polytrack surfaces. Horses such as Rapporteur, Respectable Jones, Krystal Max and Bank On Him each won more than 10 races at Lingfield, whilst horses such as Tempering, Elton Ledger, China Castle and Kylkenny all won more than 15 races at Southwell with Tempering actual notching up 22 wins at that course. The saying 'Horses for Courses' really does apply to the all weather.
One good test of how well some horses are suited to a particular course is to examine the stats for C (course winner) or CD (course and distance winner). The figures show that all weather races are much more likely to be won by a horse which has previously won at the course than one which has not. This figure is higher on the all weather than on turf and thus indicates that all weather races are usually won by course experienced horses.
• Trainers & Jockeys
Race Horse Trainers:
Just as some race horses are all weather specialists and perform much better at a specific racecourses so do race horse trainers. There are many examples of horse racing trainers who may have a poor record on turf but can double their strike rate with their horses on the all weather track. Race horse trainers such as David Barron hit a 19% strike rate on the all weather but only 10% on the turf. Conversely trainers such as John Dunlop are twice as good on turf than on the all weather (14% turf strike rate, 6% all weather strike rate). A good example of how some trainers are much more better on the all weather than turf is with Barry Hills. His record in 2yo Maiden Stakes on the all weather is a 24% strike rate and 4% profit whilst on the turf for the same type of race his record is 15% strike rate and a 24% loss. One trainer at the bottom of the full table is Richard Fahey. He has only ever had one 2yo Maiden Stakes winner on the all weather but has had 45 on the turf.
All Weather Jockeys
Most punters assume that a race horse jockey is a jockey and that he / she has equal ability in all horse races. This is often not correct as many jockeys have biases such that they perform better in some races and worse in others. Biases can happen between the different surfaces too as a horse racing jockey may be effective on turf but weak on the sand, or have a good record on Polytrack but poor on Fibresand. This is all due to the way the jockey understands the surface, and the shape of the course. If he has ridden a horse on turf and then rides the same horse at Southwell or Lingfield he may not understand the pace of the race required to win the race, or the way horses can get unbalanced around Lingfield's home turn. Another reason why you need to look out for smart jockeys is when there is a temporary draw bias. Most jockeys are stuck in their ways and fail to capitalize on a temporary faster strip which may happen after a sharp frost or heavy rain.

One of the better places to place your bets is the horse racing betting exchange called Betfair. Recently Betfair have introduced a new service they call Betfair S.P. This allows the punter, i.e you and I, to not only place our bets at Betfair but also allows us to choose the option of taking the Betfair starting price.
Normally you would have to place your horse racing bets and take what ever price was being offered by other horse racing punters online, using Betfair S.P gives you more freedom and should also increase your profits from 10% minimum to as much as 20%! You also have to take into consideration of the 5% commission that betfair charge so we can use their betting exchange, but even taking this into consideration we are far better off using the horse racing betting exchange from Betfair.
