* Julia worked as a clerical assistant. She was given a minor role

learned quickly, and rapidly became first a programming assistant,
then a professional programmer.

back in the recession of 1990-1991, as that was all that was
available. He was asked to recast a Basic program into the new Visual
Basic (VB) which had just been released. He’d read about it but was
no expert. That job propelled him into the VB world and he is still
prospering today.
* Simon was a technical support guru in a call centre. He learned
about Business Analysis and Project Management by reading and
observing. He is now a Senior Business Analyst far away from the call
centre.
* Darren was a young man with an interest in PCs. he manged to get
a temporary job as a "gopher" in an IT department, basically fetching
and carrying and installing. Two years later he is a senior support
person earning 4 times as much as he was.
* Martin was working as a telephone sales operative. using our
