I was a lot like you. I wasn't always a successful writer, editor
and communications consultant indeed I failed school English - twice!
At the age of 17 I was desperate. I was basically locked in my room,
with a cat for company (and you know how uncaring cats can be), banned

I didn't have a problem with other subjects. Maths I got, sciences
were great and IT would have been easy if it wasn't the 1970s! Even
English Literature was ok but, for some reason essay writing was sheer
torture which is why I kept failing (in those days you were allowed to
fail at school - nowadays you simply don't succeed to sufficient
standard).
I was also rubbish at languages and equally bad at French and German
so maybe that part of my brain isn't that great. So how did I become
an award-winning writer, magazine editor and communications
consultant?
The answer is the Writing Workshop. I developed this method and

journalist writing for hobby magazines. My first professional magazine
job came in 1983. I then became a magazine editor in 1985.
