EDUARDO JULIO ARTEAGA WAS BORN IN BIARRITZ,FRANCE.
SON OF DIPLOMATES, HE STUDIED THE BACCALORAT AT THE LICE FRANAIS IN
MONTEVIDEO.
IN 1950 HE ATTENDED HISTORY COURSES AT LA SORBONNE IN PARIS.
He opened his first antique shop in Montevideo, Uruguay and rand it
from 1964 until 1995. At the same time, he wrote a column for the
prestigious paper called EL PAIS (the top seller newspaper) and for 8
years he appeared on a cultural program on TV where he talked about
different types of antiques and how to judge them.
From 1964 until this date he has been teaching a three-year course
called " the history of furniture" at different places. From 1984 to
1994 he also taught the same subject in Buenos Aires and gave talks at
the Museum of Applied Arts in Palacio Errzuriz in Buenos Aires. From
2001 to date he teaches History of Art at Museo Zorrilla de San Martin
in Montevideo.
