Being a former athlete, I would have never guessed, in this
life-time that I would become hopelessly dependent upon cigarettes. My
habit had advanced to the point, where as soon as I arose from bed,
lighting up a cigarette was my first priority.
Surprisingly, smoking even took precedence over the thing I loved
doing most, my morning working out.
Finally, I decided it was time to give up the habit. I circled the
exact day on my calendar which I would quit smoking for good. When
that day arrived, I lasted about four hours before I got the
overwhelming urge to smoke. That's when I realized Mr. Nicotine had
his treacherous grip on me and refused to let go. He seemed to be
saying, "You'll quit smoking when I tell you to quit. Now go sit down
and light up a cigarette. And by the way, go into the refrigerator and
bring a beer with you."
Believe me, I tried going "Cold Turkey" several times, chewed
nicotine gum and used the most popular stop smoking aids of the day,
but nothing helped. In fact, not only did I not stop smoking, soon, I
realized I actually increased the number of cigarettes I smoked daily.
I could feel myself rapidly losing the nicotine battle, and that's
when I really got serious and was determined to do something about it.
After about nine months of thoroughly testing different strategies,
through trial and tribulation, I finally formulated a system that
allowed me to kick the smoking habit for good.
I called it the Monday Morning Method ™ this program literally
changed my life. I'm happy to say, I have been smoke-free since, 1983.
Now, I would like to share this program with anyone is struggling with
a smoking addiction.
"First things first".... as smokers, you must learn to respect

millions do. Nicotine has proven to be even more addictive than
cocaine, heroin, or alcohol. Once formed, cigarettes are a hard habit
to break. (_Just ask our Commander-in-Chief.)_
The Benefits of not smoking:
What happens inside our bodies when we quit using tobacco? Have all
the years of smoking caused too much damage for quitting to be of any
benefit? Not at all. The human body is amazingly resilient. Even if
you are a chain smoking farmhand, who have smoke for decades, once you
rid yourself of tobacco, your lungs will almost immediately begin to
heal. The food that you eat will begin to taste better, your sense of
smell will return to normal, and you will gradually be able to
exercise or do normal chores such as taking out the trash without loss
of breath and wheezing.
After 5 years, your odds of having a stroke are the same as for
people who have never smoked, and after 10 years, your risk of
developing lung, mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and
pancreas cancers all go down.
