ART - RELIGION - ANTHROPOLOGY - RITUAL
EXPLAINED!
The Human evolutionary animal is a very recent phenomenon in cosmic
terms, civilisation only stretching back a few thousand years. As such
it is uniquely possible to trace back the underlying constant and
cross-cultural factors in human development and to examine the
universal psychological imprints that are continuously mirrored in
social and cultural activity.
This book ambitiously reveals the common root of art and religion in
the psychological essence of ritual procedures as practised
universally in human societies since the very beginnings of human
consciousness.
The author utilises his own radical developmental experiences as an
abstract painter and as a psychoanalyst to analyse the fundamental
inner processes that are transposed into the wider cultural arena of
the creative process as manifested both in art practice and in
religious mystical conversion experience as well as in their common
anthropological root in the passages of ritual.
Essentially, the book explains where religion and art come from and
how they are embedded in the embryonic capsule of timeless ritual,
which in its turn is a parallel amalgam of psychological developmental
and maturational processes.
