SEVERAL YEARS AGO I WAS SEVERAL THOUSANDS DOLLARS IN DEBT, IN A JOB
THAT SUCKED THE SOUL OUT OF ME, AND COMPLETELY IN HATE WITH THE STATE
OF MY LIFE. I COULDN\'T AFFORD MY NY RENT, I HAD NO SOCIAL LIFE
BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD TO GO OUT, AND I HATED WAKING UP IN THE
MORNING.
SEE I HAD FOLLOWED THE ADVICE I HAD BEEN GIVING GROWING UP. GO TO
SCHOOL, GET GOOD GRADES, GET A GOOD JOB, MOVE OUT. CHECK, CHECK, CHECK
AND CHECK, I DID ALL OF THE ABOVE AND I ENDED UP VERRRRY BROKE.
MY JOB WAS WITH A RELATIVELY STABLE COMPANY WITH GOOD BENEFITS. IN
FACT I WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES WHO GOT BENEFITS THE FIRST DAY I
STARTED! THOUGH NO ONE TOLD ME THAT MY COMPANY ONLY PAID PARTIALLY
INTO THE HEALTH CARE PLAN AND THE REST CAME OUT OF MY ALREADY TOO
LITTLE PAYCHECK.
NO MATTER. I SAVED MY FEW DIMES AND TA-DAH I BECAME AN INDEPENDENT
WOMAN WITH MY OWN PLACE. THEN SILLY ME, I WANTED SOME BASICS FOR MY
APARTMENT LIKE A BED, SOFA, AND DISHES. NOTHING FANCY MIND YOU. THEN
BANG - I\'D ALMOST FORGOTTEN I HAD TO EAT! SUDDENLY THE BILLS MOUNTED.
_I HAD TO FIND MONEY FO_R:
* FOOD
* APARTMENT INSURANCE
* SOFA
* BED
* BASIC CABLE (BECAUSE MY BUILDING COULD NOT GET ANY T.V. RECEPTION
OTHERWISE)
* HEAT
* GAS
* ELECTRIC
* SUBWAY FARE
* CAR INSURANCE
* CAR NOTE (NO THERE WAS NO WAY I WAS GETTING RID OF MY CAR)
* AIR CONDITIONING (ONLY DURING HEAT WAVES)
AND THOSE WERE ONLY THE BASICS!
LET\'S NOT MENTION THE OCCASIONAL CAR REPAIR, CAR REGISTRATION, AND
ANNUAL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS (DENTIST WHAT DENTIST?) DO YOU MAKE THIS
MISTAKE?
I did what most Americans do- I used my credit cards for everything!
So like many Americans I was in my twenties and found myself Thousands
of dollars in credit card debt. I paid the minimum balance monthly and
watched the finance charges rack up. Big Mistake.
Yet I had been a good girl and had gone to college. I had a "job".
What did that sage advice do for me in the end?
Not much.
DID YOU FOLLOW \'THE RULES\' AND GET SCREWED TOO?
TIMES HAVE CHANGED!
Can we expect to work for the same company for 30 years or more? No!
Can we trust our company to provide reliable retirement benefits?
No!
Are pay raises equal to what necessary to have a comfortable
standard of living? No!
Do we have to worry about lay offs, crooked executives, the boss
grabbing your ass, sexual harassment, one hour or longer commutes,
mediocre but expensive benefits, being passed over for promotions,
passing the buck, brown-nosers.
Yes, Yes, and Yes!
See at least by the old rules people had job security. A guaranteed
paycheck and a gold watch at the end of years of honest work.
No more.
Perhaps you are one of the lucky ones. You like your job, can afford
to live in your city, can spend lots of time with your family, and
know for a fact you can retire young and still leave your family in
financial security after your death (which will be a long, long time
from now.)
Not me. I had to figure something else out cuz the path I was on was
sooo not working. Life was suffocating.

I figured it out. I paid off 19 thousand dollars in debt.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU DETEST YOUR JOB
I figured that out too.
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU HAVE A DREAM YOU ARE TOO SCARED TO CHASE
Working on that one, but I am on my way.

Oh I am so onto this now.
THE SECRET KEY
See, I figured out THE KEY that no one told me
I could do what I wanted to with my life.
Wait, I know that sounds hokey right?! Too simple?
And Yes this applies to YOU Too!
For one moment hold any disbelief and just think:
You don't have to work for an employer who does not respect you.
You do not have to work five jobs to pay off your debt.
You don't have to settle for what everyone else wants to do.
You don't have to be a 9 to 5 cubicle slave until you are 65.
SOUNDS GOOD YES?
AND it is completely, utterly, totally, unequivocally, positively
true!
You may not believe because you've been fed 'truths' from an
entirely different generation. Perhaps you have family and friends who
will laugh at you for doing something different.
Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself. I haven't told you the rest of my
story.
Broke, in debt, and miserable the lights finally went off in my head
that I needed a change. Correction - I needed a change that brought
more money into my life.
Working a second job was OUT. Yeah at first I punked out and looked
for another job. Fortunately for me the job market at the time was
tough on everyone. If techies with grad degrees could not find a gig
there was no way in heck I even had chance. (I didn't know that then)
I started searching for ways to make money. Hours and hours I spent
researching. Online and offline. I lived in the bookstore and library.
I scoured the web. I read books, more books and then some more. I
attended (free) seminars on how to build wealth.
I knew there had to be ANOTHER WAY TO MAKING MONEY THAN DEPENDING ON
SOMEONE ELSE TO GIVE IT TO ME.
IF I WANTED MONEY I HAD TO EARN IT ON MY OWN
I have a degree in criminal justice. But I had never taken a
business class ever! In fact the idea of trying to sell stuff to
people totally freaked me out and left a bad taste in my mouth.
MAKE MONEY LIKE A MBA GRAD (ALMOST)
How does somebody make money without having ever taken a business
class?
Answer - KISS = Keep It Simple Stupid.
A Simple idea + Desire + being broke + ingenuity = Ways to Make
Money
So after all that research I figured out the key was to find a
simple idea, add some ingenuity (cuz I had no money to invest) to
create a small business that would make me some cash.
Remember I was a woman with no business education, deeply in debt
and couldn't sell a banana to a monkey! Something finally clicked
after doing all that research.
YOU DON\'T HAVE TO SELL SOMETHING IF PEOPLE ARE READY TO BUY!
Think about the last time you desperately wanting something. Did you
need a salesman to 'sell' you on the product? No. Likely you read up
on the product ahead of time, or somebody gave it a thumbs up and you
were all ready for fork over the money that was burning a hole in your
pocket. That is what most folks do.
So I hunted for simple home based business ideas for services that
people wanted or needed and would be happy to pay me for.
Eventually I began several businesses operated by just me. I was a
pet sitter, pet chauffer (to and from vet visits), at home physical
fitness trainer, real estate investor, internet marketer, and dinner
club owner.
Get Out Of Debt Now!
When I was doing real estate investing I sold what is known as an
ugly house. The owner desperately wanted to get rid of it. Here\'s a

The person who bought the house desperately wanted a property to
rehab. Did I have to sell or convince either one of them to accept my
services? No!
I paid off All of my credit card debt!
When I ran a dinner club I arranged dinner for professional singles.
Did I have to convince anyone to come out to dinner, meet other
available singles, and have a good time? No! I made enough money to
help with my rent.
