Dear future Powersellers,
My name is Matt and I’m a former Powerseller who just sold his company and I’m only 28. Back when I was in college, I was going to school full time and I was working at Best Buy to pay for my student loans and apartment. I didn’t mind my job because I loved working with consumer electronics except the one thing that really bothered me was no matter how much I sold on a given day, I was paid the same hourly wage. My paycheck after taxes was $223. I’ll never forget that number.
After I finished college with a communications degree, I had no clue where I wanted to work. The only thing I knew was that keeping my current job was not an option if I was ever going to pay off my student loans. I moved out of my apartment and I was living in a low income housing area and still living check to check. I felt I was truly at a dead end in my life which was sad considering I was 22, about to turn 23. I remembered one thing my manager had told me and that was “Do what you love and the money will follow”. Well the only thing I knew how to do was sell video games and TV’s to customers.
One night I went to my parent’s house to use their internet. (I could not afford the internet on my own) I did searches for things like “bulk wholesale video games”, “wholesale playstation 2”, “wholesale nintendo”. I came across a few sites which claimed that they were selling a list of wholesale source suppliers and I finally ended up buying 3 separate lists off of eBay that night.
After going over my options, I decided to purchase a sample lot of Playstation 2 games. 30 games to be exact and they came via FedEx about a week later. I felt like it was Christmas when I saw the box on my door step. I couldn't believe that I entered the wholesale video game market by myself. I ripped it open and ran over to my parents to start putting my games 1 by 1 onto eBay and slowly I built up enough money to start buying larger quantities of games at a lower price. Business was booming and the more research I did, I found out that the most profitable sales technique was the bundle games with systems and sell it as a package. This technique still is used today by many Powersellers.
Does your desk look like this? It should!
eBay had served its purpose but I wanted to cut the middle man out from taking fees.
My next step was to open my own website. My problem was that I didn’t know a thing about making websites and local companies around here were charging over $5000 to create a complete sales site. That cost was about how much I had saved up and just was too much for me to afford.
I decided to start selling my wholesale contacts on eBay from about 2005 until 2006. I had a solid list and I figured this would be all profit. I learned that my customers eventually got stuck at the same point as me.
They needed an affordable website and traffic flowing in.
I removed my wholesale video game list from being sold in 2007 and went back to the drawing board. I scoured webmaster forums on how to get traffic and affordable web designers. I had a site designed by a firm who was well represented on the forum from India for about 25% of what local designers had bid. Next I needed traffic. I bit the bullet and hired the forum’s most respected Search Engine Optimization guru. I told him though that I wanted an extensive report on how he was going to generate traffic so that I could do it myself. He agreed. Now I have a very impressive list of the top traffic driving techniques that no one would ever get unless they hired this guru!

I've read it - and liked it. Very practical advice and strategies - but as with anything, what you do with it is up to you. Definitely worth reading. Matt is the REAL GURU. He never holds anything back for his buyers. Ever.

I bought and read it yesterday! Amazing book, even for a newbie like me. The ideas and processes inside are relevant and honest.
I am working on one of the plans now(well not RIGHT now) but today, and I am actually going to try setting up a second plan using TrafficXL plan and mixing it up a bit with the ideas from another book I purchased recently to test it out.
Great read, I really thought it was worth the money.

Got the book last night and gave it a quick read. One of the methods I knew something about already, but its a whole lot more clear after reading the book. Everything else is new to me, I would have done it completely wrong before reading this.
It totally makes sense, lots of common sense, not some half baked get rich quick scheme but real life methods proven to work.
Good job Matt, well worth the price and then some I would say.

If there's any doubt left in your mind, the most important thing to remember is the top benefit which I've learned that comes from selling video games is that you are selling established products that already have the marketing done for them. Do you really think you’ll ever have to work to convince someone why they should buy Halo 3 or why the PS3 is so great? NEVER. Keep that in mind.
