When my son was 6 he had a bout of Angular Chelitis also known as "Perleche" It is essentially a yeast infection and often sufferers of Angular Chelitis also have an accompanying "Oral Yeast Infection"
My wife and I thought nothing of it and it seemed to clear up after a few days all by itself. When Brad turned 14 he got it again. This time it stayed with him for over 3 years. These painful ulcers caused him embarrassment and made social interaction uncomfortable for him.

Over time it affected his personality
I watched my son change in personality from happy and outgoing to withdrawn and quiet. After a year of this I was really starting to get anxious for my son.
