About the Book

Epic in its scope, the novel begins in France, moves through the United States, Iraq, Morocco, Nigeria and Cameroon to sweep into the Arab gulf and the source of terror financing. At the center of the story is Isa, a remarkable 14-year-old who, having been kidnapped by Boko Haram, defies the terrorists with her own escape and her rescue of a Frenchman also held hostage.

The novel gives a vivid portrait of her courage, faith and determination as she confronts seemingly impossible odds. Providing texture to the story are brave US, UK and Indian private security teams, seemingly soulless child soldiers of Boko Haram, corrupt Nigerian military, Saudi terrorist financiers, Kenyan money-launderers and the international politics of terror.

Rebuke the Wind is a tribute to the people of the Sahel, particularly the young women, victimized by Boko Haram and largely unknown to Western readers. Its style is simple and fast, accessible to adult and young adult readers.

"Rebuke the Wind proceeds will directly support young women education and empowerment programs in Cameroon , Africa. Isa is the epitome of a typical young African woman resilience role in the midst of crisis; determined to end it for peace, community development and global well being. The SODEIT Team salutes Trip and every Rebuke the Wind reader whose purchase will support young women education, empowerment in Cameroon, Africa.”
- Suliaman Turay, Cameroon

"Trip Mackintosh's revolutionary brilliance shines in new and unexpected ways with this masterpiece, Rebuke the Wind. Mr. Mackintosh's law background in corruption and extensive studies in remote areas of Africa learning bush adeptness created the backbone for this rich cultural adventure. Only a precise knowledge of the political, historical, and cultural atmosphere of South West Africa could create such fully refined characters. Isa is my new personal hero."
- Carrie Spanton, USA

“My biggest fascination was the accurate representation of the beautiful Sahara culture as it is a huge part of my identity, but my connection with the book didn’t stop there.
- Roula Abdulhai, Syria
