Our Franchising Success Story
in a Nutshell!

“We duplicated our successful business concept into more than 100 stores
in less than 5 years, without a single failure, and we can show you how!”                                                            Vince Taddeo  &  Clyde Viola
It all began in February of 1986, when we started up a new pizza company, 241 Pizza Ltd. Our mission was simple: not only to change the landscape of the pizza industry, in our home city of Toronto, (a population center of approximately 3.5 million), but throughout the province and beyond. Under this new brand name, ‘241 Pizza,’ which, in itself, has an implied ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ added value offering, and using the phone number ‘241-0-241’ to reinforce, both, the brand name, and the offering, we created a unique ‘top-of-mind’ business model. Hence, our 241 Pizza brand became synonymous with VALUE! And yes, each order came with 2 pizzas. The Free pizza came with sauce, cheese, and 1 Free topping. Both were placed in a huge rectangular box. You must be wondering how we could afford to give away a Free Pizza with every order. Essentially, we took our major competitor’s prices and up charged 15%, which give us enough extra revenue to cover the raw material costs of the Free Pizza. And our customers loved it! Hence the sales volumes were excellent.) Yes, we worked like little beavers in a mud slide, and we too, loved it. Our sales kept climbing! Simultaneously, by developing a Call Centre (a one-number central phone system) to serve multiple locations that could reach millions of customers, through Franchising and mass advertising, we duplicated our successful flagship store into more than 100 units, all using the same 241 brand, the same ‘Buy 1 Get 1 Free’ value added offering, and the same phone number, ‘241-0-241’.   As unbelievable as this may sound, yes, we put all this together in less than 5 years, without the failure of a single unit. At that point (1991), with Gross Annual Sales exceeding $50M, we were excited!
Also, in 1993, as 49% shareholders in a Shred-it U.S.A. Inc., an on-site document destruction company, and for a short period, (4 years), we worked closely with its founder, Greg Brophy, in financing the expansion of this brand from just a handful of Franchises in Canada, to many urban centers throughout U.S.A. Thereafter, it went
on to expand and is now one of the world’s leading companies of its kind, operating in some 140 centers in 18 countries around the world.
And now looking back at these fawn memories, we have decided to share what we learned with you, identifying, as precisely as possible, the key elements, which we believe, led us to such an unprecedented success. And these can all be found in our ebook, we have titled:
