From: Mike Seeklander, Professional Firearms Instructor

Former U.S. Marine, Federal Air Marshall, Police Office and Federal firearms instructor.

Dear Defensive Shooter,

These training drills will take you to the next level in your skill development. I hope that it helps you accomplish your shooting goals, and teaches you how to train. These drills are designed to teach the shooter the critical skills necessary to excel in defensive shooting. It is meant to be used as a range guide or by shooters that want to use the drills to design their own program.

As a complete set of 24 training drills (11 dry fire / 13 live fire), this book will give you the confidence to defend your live if you need to! No matter where you are in your skill level, this book will take you higher.

If you are like me, you were not graced with superstar natural talent, and have to work for every ounce of skill you have. If so, then these drills laid out in a full week by week training program will guide you through a routine that will ensure your success.

Once you're dialed in on those drills, you will be able to self-critique yourself and continue to improve your skills by modifying the drills to meet your needs. Lastly, I want to admit that I am a shooter and professional instructor, not a writer.

That being said, this book has been through an extensive editing process, but some of you with a keen eye may catch are- as that are written in a manner less formal, which is my intent. I wanted to speak to you as shooters, in plain English! (For the really keen eye, if you catch a spelling error, please let me know.)

Until Then - Train Hard!

-Mike

13 Live Fire Drills

Drill 1: Five Shot Group

To verify gun and ammunition combination is shooting point-‐of-‐aim (POA) to point-‐of-‐impact (POI), by shooting a group on a specific spot. To verify basic mechanics on the process of sight and trigger management. Once you verify the gun is zeroed with the ammunition you are training with, analysis of other training factors is easier (i.e. you don’t blame the gun for a bad shot). This five shot group should also be shot with your defensive ammunition on a regular basis.

A Message From Jeramy Smith

Former Army Ranger / Combat Veteran

“Mike Seeklander once told me in regards to shooting, "We are all students of the game." No truer words have ever been said about the art of the gun, and this phrase has been echoed to my students many times. I have had the fortunate opportunity to shoot with some of the greatest shooters the military has to offer, and I have learned all that I know from the very best. I sought out Mike after articles I had read in Front Sight magazine while putting together a marksmanship program, his training and shooting lessons explained a lot to me and just made sense. Upon the first time we met at the range it was apparent this man and I were speaking the same language, Mike has this affect on all shooters. I have included Mike on almost every course I have developed, law enforcement and military. His ability to understand the fundamentals and push you to be your very best are unlike any instructor I have shot with. Mikes constant thirst for knowledge and self-improvement are a constant reminder to us all, that we are still learning and growing in this very dangerous business. Mike has shot with all walks of life, police, military, competitive, and civilian shooters alike. His ability to speak, train, and learn from all are what make him one of the very best in the business. I would go through the breech with Mike anytime. RLTW!”
