Who am I?

Two and a half years ago, I didn’t know anything about memory techniques. I had no idea of the possibilities. I had no idea just how easy memorizing huge amounts of information can be.

Then I watched a Ted Talk by Joshua Foer which introduced me to mnemonics. Hearing him describe how much was possible with memory techniques opened up a whole new world. I was hooked immediately.

Over the next year, I consumed every single book I could find on the topic, and when that wasn’t enough, I turned to the internet. On the internet, I found lots of blogs, videos, newsletters and articles from people, describing the way they use mnemonics and the various ideas they have. I also found the artofmemory.com forum, and went over every post on the site that I found interesting.

While building up this knowledge, I began using it. I memorized decks of cards, numbers, lists, and notes. I improved my skill very quickly, getting faster and faster.

I started helping beginners who would ask questions on the forum. To date, I have over 1350 comments on there. Beginners would come to me for advice, and I would gladly help them. They didn’t have to spend 100+ hours trying to understand everything there was to know about mnemonics, they just needed some advice.

Then I thought, why not write a book to answer all their questions? I want to help as many people as possible, and by putting all that I know about mnemonics into a book, I can help many more people than I can answering their questions one by one. This is that book. You don’t need to spend 100+ hours trying to understand mnemonics. You can read this book and immediately start applying memory techniques to your life.

There are many books about mnemonics(I’ve read most of them), but they aren’t very practical. Some books just tell the history of mnemonics and how they were introduced to them. Others just speak in terms of using memory techniques to compete in memory competitions. The rest are just old, they come from a time when there wasn’t so much knowledge about memory techniques available. There have been many new ideas coming out, many new ways of using memory techniques that just came out recently. I have read all of them, and put them together into this book.

Mnemonics – A Modern Guide to the Art of Memory is the most recent, up to date, comprehensive guide on how to apply memory techniques to your life. It introduces each memory technique, then goes over ways of using them. It features many examples on how you can visualize each technique. It gives you many examples that tell you exactly what you can visualize to remember them. This book also addresses common problems that beginners to memory techniques face, such as running out of locations in their mind to place information into.

Through speaking and listening to thousands of people discussing their experiences with mnemonics, along with reading all the major books on the topic, I know what problems beginners and mnemonists face. I’ve answered many questions from readers, but most of them are the same couple questions, such as ‘What if I run out of locations?’. I devoted a whole chapter to that question, showing you exactly how to never run out of locations in your memory palaces.

Buy the book now, and you will be able to learn how to use memory techniques in your life!
