How it works
Most technical analysis indicators are flawed because they do not take into account changes in volatility. e.g. Moving averages crossover during high volatility even when there is no trend. Oscillators predict mean-reversion when there is an actual trend happening in a larger timescale.
To avoid these pitfalls Vega Rider looks at volatility first before using it to count how many standard deviations the market moves in each direction, before waltzing back. Movements smaller than the standard deviation is not considered. Within these waltzing maneuvers lies a pattern we exploit to predict trends.
Volatility is calculated by assuming the prices follow a Geometric Brownian Motion i.e. we assume differences in the logarithm of prices sampled at equal intervals follow a Brownian Motion.

If this strategy is so good, why doesn't the author use it to trade anymore?
The author used to trade with this, but currently he is focused on developing a startup.

Although this strategy is right less often than a coin toss, it makes more when it is right, than what it loses when it is wrong. That is why it makes money.
What currency pairs can be traded using this?
EURUSD is the recommended pair. However it also works with EURGBP, USDCAD, GBPUSD and USDJPY.
What timeframes does this EA operate in?
Since we use ticks directly to generate our bars, this EA will work on any chart.
How do I install this strategy?
You need .NET Version 4 before you get started. Simply copy the DLL we provide into your MQL4/Libraries folder and the .ex4 file we provide into your MQL4/Experts folder. Restart your terminal, and drag the EA to a chart of the currency you wish to trade. You will then need to enter your receipt number we provide after purchase, and the minimum lot size you wish to trade with. Only EURUSD, EURGBP, USDCAD, GBPUSD and USDJPY charts are supported. Other charts will give unpredictable results.
