It was called the McGovern report and was set to get the food industry booming. It concluded that in order to lose fat, we needed to eat less fat.

For example, let's say you drink a soda, your blood sugar levels rise. When you have high blood sugar your pancreas detects this rise and pumps out insulin into the blood stream.
The increased insulin helps the uptake of glucose into muscle energy stores and other cells. This then causes the blood glucose levels to return to normal.
That all sounds perfectly fine right?
Well here’s the bad news...
Your muscles can only store so much energy and when they're full the excess sugar is then converted instantly to fat for later use. You see, your body doesn’t like to waste energy, it will store energy however it can, whether it be storing glucose in muscles or fat on your waist line.

Some of the companies that joined forces were Coca Cola, Mars, Sara Lee, Hershey’s, Kraft and Pepsi.

Well not long after the announcement of the merging, the entire direction of the Let’s Move campaign changed. No longer was Mrs Obama “deamonizing” the food industry, no longer was she willing to point the finger at any major company, no longer was she willing to expose the truth behind the food we eat.

All of the focus is now on exercise! Her message to the public is that we need to exercise more and live a more active lifestyle. She's pointing the finger at us!
And so was the return of false statement that the food industry continues to push, that “we need to burn more calories than we consume in order to lose weight”.
Heres a quote from Mrs Obama to the press as she trys to push the false message… “How hard is it to get your kids to go outside and play, kick a ball.. It’s not like your forcing your kids to eat vegetables or anything”.
This makes me sick to the core. Not only is she protecting the food industry by telling the public that the problem is exercise and not food, but she jokes that we don’t need to get our children to eat vegetables.
The statement, “You need to burn more calories than you consume in order to lose weight” is a lie!
Calories react differently to one another when they enter our body. For example, lets compare 100 calories of Almonds vs 100 calories of Apple juice.
If all calories were the same, like the food industry is trying to tell us, then it wouldn’t matter if you had 100 calories of Almonds or 100 calories of Apple juice. So long as you burnt 100 calories in exercise. Right?
ERRRR wrong!
It’s complete B.S. and the food industry knows it, so does the Government. Almonds contain fibre so when we digest almonds the process is slowed down which greatly reduces blood glucose from spiking.
However after consuming 100 calories of Apple Juice it is quickly absorbed by the liver causing a sugar rush and instantly the conversion from sugar to fat begins.
So now, 35 years after the food industry began processing the hell out of foods, making them poison for our bodies, they are still in our supermarkets. They are still potrayed as not only real food but as healthy food.
It doesn’t matter whats written on the label!
Zero fat, no MSG, no added sugar, great source of Vitamin C, no artificial flavors or colors...
All of these are marketing messages designed to make you think it’s healthy. When in actual fact it’s just highly processed junk food.

And if you don’t believe me, next time your at a supermarket you should compare some items. For example, low fat mayonnaise vs full fat mayonnaise. You will see the low fat version contains far more sugar.
You see, when food is processed they can manipulate the product to create whatever they want. Turn the sugar dial up and market it as low fat, turn the fat up and market it as low sugar.
It’s not real food and no matter what tricky message is written on the lable, it's making you fat and slowly killing you.

Alex's diet:
Breakfast: Organic Orange juice, Wholewheat toast with organic penut butter
Snack: Apple
Lunch: Tuna (tinned) sandwhich, Banana, Almonds
Dinner: Chicken breast, steamed vegetable and brown rice
Total calories: approx. 2400.
To many people this diet seems extreamly healthy so why was Alex stuck and not losing anymore weight?
Problem 1: For starters, Alex wasn't eating enough! It may sound a little odd, but with all that exercise and limiting his calories to just 2400 per day he was forcing his body to enter survival mode. This is when your body stores as much fat as possible. So instead of burning fat he was actually prmoting fat storage!
Problem 2: The organic orange juice and toast was causing a massive sugar rush and as I explained earlier, this sugar is instantly converted to fat. This is NOT a good way to start the day!
Problem 3: The third problem was the Tuna on his sandwhich. Tinned tuna containes murcury which can have devestating effects on hormone balance. This can directly affect energy and libido. Both of which Alex had issues with. The solution was to switch to another meat or use fresh tuna.
History: Christie is one of Emily's clients. She is a 36 year old woman that had stuggled to get her body back since she had her first chiled 5 years ago. She's a self proclaimed "workaholic" so doesn't have time to exercise but tries to eat healthy whereever possible.
Christies diet:
Breakfast: Black coffee
Snack: Grapes
Lunch:Chicken salad with low fat dressing
Snack: Organic Greek Yoghurt and muslie
Dinner:Extra lean pork and roast vegetables
Total calories: approx. 1700.
You might think that I'm going to say that skipping breakfast is her first mistake? Well I'm not. Let me let you in on a secret. The saying "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" is a SCAM! This is just brilliant marketing designed to get you eating their processed junk food they call cereal.
If your not hungry at that time of the day DON'T force yourself to eat. You are MUCH better off eating nothing at all than the 99% of junk food found in the cereal isle!
Problem 1: The first problem is actually the grapes. Grapes contain mostly fructose, which is a naturally occuring sugar. This is going to cause blood sugar to rise and start the fat storage process. The solution was to consume the grapes with almonds to lower the blood sugar spike. Another simple solution was to use the "Cinni Block" method. This is an easy solution Emily came up with and it reduces blood sugar spikes from just about ANY high sugar products.
Problem 2: Low fat salad dressing. This is quite an obvious one as the dressing is loaded with fake additives and sugar. Swapping this for balsamic vinigar was an easy and tasty solution.
Problem 3: Dinner. After reviewing the overall diet it's clear that Christie wasn't eating anywhere near enough fat. Dinner was her last chance of the day to get her fat intake up but she chose a lean protein instead. The solution was to chose a fattier protein for dinner or add some high fat nuts like Macadamia to her diet every day.

So there you have 2 very differnt diet's, both of which seem healthy. But, after dicecting each meal we can see many flaws and more importantly, many ways to improve the diets to increase fat loss.
