Do you ever wish your websites & apps looked a bit more "professional"? In this 6-week online course, you'll learn all about the foundations of visual and UI design and go from idea to mockup. Work through a series of hands-on projects, get written feedback on all your work, and Skype with your mentor once a week. Learn design by doing: it's the only way.

What you will learn
Six weeks. Six hours per week.
You'll be able to confidently wireframe, make visual design decisions, and communicate like a designer.
Week 1
Getting to know design
Begin thinking of design as a thought process, rather than as a tool.
Week 2
Visual Hierarchy
Learn some key graphic design principles in this unit.
Week 3
Layout
Learn the basic fundamentals of visual design, as well as how to build your first wireframe.
Week 4
Color Theory
Learn how to add a splash of color to your design work!
Week 5
Typography
Get acquainted with basic typographic principles and understand how to choose fonts.
Week 6
Process
Put it all together in this this final unit, where you work on your capstone project.

Will I need to know Photoshop?
Nope, you can complete your projects with any tool you like (Sketch, Illustrator, etc.). Your mentor can be a great resource to learn tips/tricks for popular tools.
Does this course teach HTML/CSS?
No â this course covers the fundamental principles of design, not programming.
How is the course pacing?
This course is built for busy professionals. Expect to spend about 6 hours per week between projects, readings, and mentor interaction.
