Hi Friends,
My name is John Hansen, and I’m excited for the opportunity to reveal the five most common training mistakes that are holding back your progress to building more muscular size and strength and I’m extremely happy to reveal my mass-building secrets to overcoming your frustrating sticking points so you can finally build more strength, gain lean muscular mass and make continuous gains. Every 6 weeks, you’ll stimulate more muscle growth by by utilizing the principles of my MP6 Training Program – Power Training, Mass Building, DeLoad Recuperation and my Nutrient Loading system. For the first time ever, I have organized the very best and most effective training principles for building muscle mass and strength – after more than 35 years of consistent, super-intensive training – into the MP6 Training Program! These are the same training principles that have helped me to become one of the biggest and most popular Natural Bodybuilders in the world. The same principles that helped me to win the Natural Mr. Olympia title and the Natural Mr. Universe contest (Three Times!).
[]
These are also the same proven Training Principles that the Biggest Bodybuilders in the history of the sport have used to build their incredible Muscle Mass and it’s the same system that will help you to overcome all your plateaus to finally achieve your ultimate physique.
I know what you might be thinking…
“Is it really possible to build massive muscles without the use of steroids or other performance enhancing drugs?”
The short answer to this is ABSOLUTELY!
I think it’s a shame that steroids have permeated our society to the extent that even bodybuilders themselves don’t believe it’s possible to build incredible muscle mass and strength without the use of performance enhancing drugs. The principles in the MP6 Training Program will work for anyone, enhanced or natural. The bottom line is that the training protocol is designed to stimulate the []muscles with increasing amounts of stress so the muscles have no option other than to grow and get stronger. When I began training at the age of 14, I certainly didn’t look like a future Mr. Universe winner. I was naturally thin and it was hard to imagine my muscles getting as big as the bodybuilders that I admired in the magazines. I didn’t know the first thing about steroid use and it was obvious to me that I didn’t have the necessary genetics needed to be a massive bodybuilder. The first few years of my training were very frustrating as I made little progress despite the fact that I was giving my workouts and diet 100% effort. I was training diligently, sometimes twice in the same day, and still my body refused to grow. I really thought I just didn’thave what it took for getting big. It wasn’t until I started following the same training and nutrition principles that many of the top elite bodybuilders utilized that I finally began to make progress. Before long, all the really []big guys in the gym were looking at me differently. It seemed like they never even noticed me before. When several people from the gym wondered if I was on steroids, I knew I must really be making some great progress. By the time I was 21 years old, I had completely transformed my physique. From a skinny teenager with seemingly little to no genetics for building muscle, I had gained nearly 100 pounds from when I first started training.
“I wanted to look like a Superhero…”
[]To give you some background on myself, I grew up admiring the muscular physiques of the superheroes in the comic books. Their physiques looked so magnificent, I didn’t believe it was possible for a human being to look like that. It wasn’t until I received a 110 pound weight lifting set for Christmas one year that I discovered what bodybuilding was and that it was possible to actually build up the physique to look like a real life superhero. I started training at the young age of 14 years old and I told everyone who would listen that I would win the Mr. Universe contest one day. I began competing in bodybuilding competitions when I was just 16 years old and I entered a total of ten teenage bodybuilding contests over the next three years. I was not a genetically gifted bodybuilder and it was very difficult for me to gain weight and build muscle size. It seemed like my body wanted to stay thin and it refused to grow. Even gaining one or two pounds of bodyweight was a monumental process.
Once I began following the most effective training and diet strategies for the drug-free bodybuilder, I was finally able to blast through all my sticking points…
and develop the physique that I was trying so hard to achieve.
At 23 years old, I won the Illinois State and Mid-America bodybuilding championships and I was one of the best bodybuilders in my area. I understood that steroids were a requirement in the upper echelons of bodybuilding competition and I didn’t want to take the health risk of using drugs all year long. I soon switched over to competing in exclusively Natural Bodybuilding contests. In 1992, I won the Natural Mr. Illinois, the Natural Mr. North America and the Natural Mr. Universe all in the same year. I was on Cloud Nine! Winning the coveted Mr. Universe title was a dream come true for me and it was the one title that I wanted to win since I started bodybuilding. I went on to win the Natural Mr. Universe title two more times and I also won the first ever Natural Mr. Olympia title held in Greece in 1998 began guest posing and giving seminars all around the country and I was amazed at how confused so many people are on the topic of building muscle mass without the use of steroids. I started writing my own column for Iron Man Magazine in January, 2000 where I helped bodybuilders by answering their questions on training and nutrition. I also wrote a best selling book called Natural Bodybuilding that was published by Human Kinetics in 2005. I recently was featured on the cover of Iron Magazine at the age of 48 years old, proving that my love for bodybuilding is stronger than ever.
Now that I have given you a bit of background on myself, let’s discuss what five problems must be addressed immediately so that you can start gaining some Massive Muscles…
5 Reasons why most people fail… and what YOU can do to achieve MASSIVE RESULTS!
Reason #1: Supplements alone are not the Answer!
Many people who are looking to build bigger muscles are literally looking for the “magic pill”. They think if they find the right supplement, it will be the key to building greater size and strength. The supplement industry can make some pretty outrageous claims in their advertisements. Promises of doubling your muscle gains, decreasing fat and even increasing your sex drive are common. It’s no wonder that so many people are fooled into believing that the solution to building bigger muscles is in the supplements that you take. It’s only after spending so much money on supplements that the discovery is made that building muscles isn’t as easy as just swallowing some powders or pills. If it was, anyone could get big muscles just by taking these supplements.
The Solution: Training is the Stimulus for Real Growth[]
The real key to building muscle is to first stimulate the muscles to grow. Ingesting extra protein powder, amino acids, creatine or any other super supplement will not do anything without that initial stimulus that is provided by the right training program. When the muscle tissue is broken down, it is the rest and nutrition that helps it to grow. However, if the muscles are not continually and progressively stimulated, the extra protein and other growth nutrients will not work to build more muscle. Just training by itself is not enough. Your training program must be designed to be progressive so the muscles are forced to always adapt to the new stress imposed on them. The MP6 Training Program is designed specifically for that purpose. Each week will build upon the last week so the muscles are being slowly coaxed each progressive workout into doing more than they did before. That is the key to promoting growth.
Reason #2: Mistaking a “Pump” for “Muscle Growth”
This is a common mistake that so many people make in the quest for bigger muscles. Pumping up the muscles definitely looks and feels good. You look in the mirror and your muscles look like they have doubled in size. This must be the solution to making the muscles bigger, right? Not necessarily. Although pumping more blood into the muscles is an important component to muscle growth, it is not the primary reason for muscle growth. If it was, than it would be possible to get a bigger chest and arms simply by doing lots of push-ups every day. Bill Pearl, 4 time Mr. Universe winner and one of the legends in the world of bodybuilding, once related a funny story about when he was training a client at his gym. The novice trainer told Bill that he got a great pump in his calves by doing high repetition calf raises with just his bodyweight. He told Bill that his calves must be growing because they were burning so much after his sets. Bill told him, “I can put a match to your calves and that would make them burn but that doesn’t mean that they will grow”. The point is that it takes much more than just pumping up a muscle for real growth to take place. The biggest and most massive bodybuilders in the world didn’t get that way just by doing endless repetitions with a light resistance. Just like most things in life, it’s not that easy.
The Solution: Using the Right Resistance for the “Growth Reps”
[]The BEST way to get muscles to hypertrophy (grow) is to increase the size of the muscle fibers themselves. The primary way for this to occur is to subject those muscles to ever increasing amounts of stress. The muscle fibers will react to this stress by increasing in both size and strength in order to adapt to the stress imposed on them. Using a light resistance to pump more blood into the muscles will temporarily increase the size of the muscle cells but it will not lead to an increase in the circumference of the muscle fibers themselves. In order to grow, the muscles need to exert themselves with a resistance that will only allow for a moderate amount of repetitions (approximately 6-10 reps). Using more resistance that will allow for fewer reps (1-4 reps) or utilizing much less resistance that will provide for more repetitions (15-20 reps) will not increase the size of the muscle fibers as much as the “growth reps” (6-10 reps). The heavier loads will do more to increase strength while the lighter loads will increase the endurance of the muscle. In order to make the muscles BIGGER, you need a resistance that will only allow for the correct amount of repetitions.
Reason #3: Training like a Pro Bodybuilder
One of the biggest mistakes individuals make in their training is to copy the workout routines that the pro bodybuilders use. The reasoning is that if it worked for the pros, it should work for everyone. Typically, a professional bodybuilder will work out six days a week, sometimes twice a day. They will also do a high amount of sets for each muscle group and often do cardiovascular exercise several hours a day in order to prepare for a competition. The difference between a pro bodybuilder and the average bodybuilder is that they are supplementing their training by using high amounts of performance enhancing drugs. The massive dosages of these powerful drugs allow the professional bodybuilders to train each muscle group more frequently, with more sets and with less rest. They can follow these workouts and still grow because the high amounts of drugs they are using work to increase their strength, their muscle mass and speed up their recuperation time tremendously. To compare what they do to the average drug-free trainer would be like comparing a greyhound to a chihuahua. I made the same mistake when I first started training at 14 years old. I wanted to get big fast so I started using the exact same routine that Arnold Schwarzenegger was using to prepare for the Mr. Olympia competition. That meant training six days a week, twice a day and doing as many as 20-25 sets for each muscle group. It’s not surprising that I was severely limiting my growth by training so much.
The Solution: Avoid Over Training So You Can Grow
[]Building more muscle size doesn’t require hours of training every day and dozens and dozens of sets. The most important requirement for muscle growth is to properly stress the muscles by utilizing the best exercises, the right amount of repetitions and the proper amount of sets. Doing more than is required will actually inhibit muscle growth by making inroads into yourvaluable recuperation system. You will be burning up so many calories and expending so much energy, it will be impossible for your body to grow. The “more is better” philosophy is prevalent in all walks of life. This applies to building muscle as well. However, this belief is a fallacy. When you begin to cut back on the amount of sets you perform for each muscle group by using the most effective exercises with the right amount of resistance and repetitions, you will be amazed at how fast the muscles will respond.
Reason #4: Using more weight than you can handle
Getting bigger muscles requires the use of greater resistance in order to stress the muscles so they have a reason to grow. As you get stronger, you can use more weight for the proper amount of repetitions and the muscles will respond by getting bigger. The problem with trying to use increasingly heavier weights to build more muscle mass is that the body will eventually reach a plateau. No matter how hard you push yourself, you will reach a point where it will be impossible to get stronger. When this plateau is reached, many people will continue to struggle with weights that are too heavy for them. They will resort to using bad form in order to use more weight than ever or they will rely on their training partner to help them do more “forced reps” in order to complete the proper number of repetitions needed to get bigger. This method of training is not effective because the muscles are using more weight than they can realistically handle.
The Solution: Cycle Your Training to Build Strength and Size
[]Using more weight for the right amount of repetitions IS the right formula for building more muscle mass. What is the solution when you reach a sticking point and seemingly cannot budge another additional pound on the exercises you are using? The answer is to cycle your training. Powerlifters and other strength athletes know that they cannot force more strength just by pushing themselves harder. The most efficient way to acquire more power is to gradually coax the body into getting stronger by cycling the workouts. A Power Cycle, as explained in the MP6 Training Program, will allow you to use increasingly heavier resistance over a 6 week period. By increasing the weight you are using and utilizing the proper amount of repetitions over multiple sets, the body will get accustomed to the heavier weight and develop more strength. This is the same strategy that has worked for powerlifters and other strength athletes all over the world and it will work for anyone. By developing more strength and power, you will be able to easily manhandle weights that would have buried you in the past. When you begin using more resistance for the right amount of repetitions, you will be amazed at how much new muscle mass you will add!
Reason #5: Not eating the right foods at the right times
Nutrition is one of the most confusing components to building more muscle mass. What foods to eat and at what times are just some of the confusing questions when it comes to proper nutrition. Just randomly eating foods that you think are good for you will not help you to maximize your capacity for building muscle mass, enhancing recuperation and keeping bodyfat levels down. It’s not only the quality of food that is important, it’s the quantity of food and timing the meals correct
The Solution: Use the “Nutrient Loading System” for Maximum Energy, Growth and Recovery
[]The Nutrient Loading System will educate you on what nutrients to take both before and after your training sessions in order to enhance your energy, muscle pump and recuperation. I will also explain how to space out your meals for proper digestion and assimilation of the muscle building nutrients. My system will explain the proper ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fats so anyone can gain muscular mass when using the MP6 Training Program. Nutrition is major component to building more strength and muscle mass and my Nutrient Loading System will explain it all in detail.
To summarize, what are the most common mistakes made in the quest for more muscle mass and strength?
Believing that Supplements alone are the answer when it is really your workouts that stimulate muscle growth. Relying on the “Pump” to build more muscle mass instead of using heavier weights for the right amount of repetitions to build REAL Muscle Size. Training like a Pro Bodybuilder by doing an endless amount of sets and exercises in order to get bigger. Training heavier than your muscles can handle instead of slowly building up strength by using a Power Cycle to develop real power. Failing to eat the right nutrients at the right time in order to enhance muscle growth and recuperation while limiting fat gain.

All of the research is clear, increases in strength and muscle mass are MOST EFFECTIVE when practiced with a cyclical training program!
[]Even as little as 15 years ago, professional athletes did not train with weights in the gym, because their trainers feared that “bulking up” with large muscles would slow their performance. This paper, clearly proves that myth is BUSTED! Strength, speed, and endurance are all increased with greater weight training. John has said for years that “A BIG muscle is a STRONG muscle”.[Download ]this study and read for yourself.
[]Regardless of how old you are, you can benefit from weight training. Science has proven that to build strength and muscle mass. Those who work out regularly increase their strength from 10 to over 100 percent in just a few weeks. Some older adults have even reached a strength level equal to someone 20 years younger. []
“Simple!” ”Fun!” “Increases in SIZE and STRENGTH!” “Easy to do!” “Increased Endurance!” “Amazing Results!” “Scientifically Proven System”. This is what people are saying about the MP6 Training Program. I’m proud of what I’ve discovered, and excited to be able to share it with you.
Now, I’m sure you still have a few questions. Let me try to answer a few of them here:
Q: What does MP6 stand for and what is the program all about?
A: MP6 basically means Mass and Power in 6 Week Cycles. The origination of the training program is based on the premise that a Big Muscle is a Strong Muscle. In other words, the more resistance (weight) you can use for the growth producing reps of 6-8 repetitions, the more muscle mass you will build.
It’s no coincidence that the biggest and most massive bodybuilders in the history of the sport have also been very strong. You can’t build big muscles without first developing the strength to use big weights. Although bodybuilders are not powerlifters and vice versa, the more strength you have to do the right amount of repetitions, the more muscle mass you will develop.
While it’s true that there are other effective muscle building techniques, the time honored truth of building more muscle mass by using more resistance for the optimum number of reps and sets is the cornerstone for building massive size.
Q. Why is the MP6 Program so effective?
A. What makes the MP6 Program so effective is the use of periodization and cycling the workouts. Anyone can go to the gym week in and week out and train hard but is that the most effective way to make gains? By using specific cycles to build first strength and then mass, you will build up your physique without hitting any sticking points.
The way each Mass and Power workout is cycled, the resistance for the exercises is gradually increased so the body is able to continuously make gains. The slow progression each week allows the muscles to develop first strength and then muscle mass. You are training in accordance with the body’s own limitations and the muscles gradually gain strength and size naturally without trying to force growth.
Q. Who would benefit from using the MP6 Program?
A. Anyone who is looking for a safe and effective way to build more muscle mass and strength will benefit from using the MP6 Program. The training cycles will help anyone to develop greater power and size due to the gradual increase in both resistance and intensity. I have seen 20 year old lifters make incredible progress as well as those as old as 70 years of age. The muscles will respond to the progressive resistance placed on them and they have no choice but to grow.
Q. Can women use this program as well?
A. Absolutely! Many women who begin weight lifting as a means to develop a more attractive physique will only use light weights because they don’t want to get too big. However, many women soon discover that because of their lower testosterone levels and higher percentage of bodyfat, the muscle building process is a slow one. By focusing on building more strength first and then using more resistance to develop muscle mass, women can make much faster progress in less time. The increase in lean muscle tissue will also help to increase their metabolism and make it easier to get leaner.
Q. If I am just a beginner, is the MP6 Program too advanced for me?
A. If you are just beginning a weight training program, I have included a full Beginners Training Routine in the MP6 Training Manuel. It’s important to start off with the right training program when you first begin weight training. Many people skip over the basics and try to do too much in the beginning. You have to lay the foundation of the physique by introducing resistance training slowly to the body and learning the proper form for each exercise.
If you are just starting weight training, you should begin with the Beginners Training Routine in the book and then work up to the Intermediate Training Routine next. After completing these two programs, you will be ready to take on the full MP6 Training Program to push your body to the next level.
Q. I want to get ready for a competition this year. How fast can I expect results with the MP6 Program?
A. The MP6 Program is ideal for developing more Muscle Mass and Power. If you are training for a competition, this is the best program you could follow to build more size leading up to the contest. Many bodybuilders use less weight when they begin a diet to get leaner and more ripped. This is a big mistake! You need to continue training with as much resistance for the right amount of repetitions in order to maintain your muscle mass before a contest. If you are interested in Body BUILDING, the MP6 Program is the most effective training program around!
