After reading several articles and books about dieting and healthy lifestyle I was still confused about the "facts" and "myths" and that every other author had different approaches. I was kinda stuck, because nothing seemed to suit me.

Lose the lard

We don't want to waste time or money in doctors' offices and we don't want their drugs. We are responsible for our own health.


Have high energy levels and focus
We want to have high energy levels throughout the day to do what we love to do and to stay focused on the most important tasks. The Caveman Principles will also improve your alertness and mental functionality as a positive side effect.

The basics of Modern Caveman Lifestyle


To live the Modern Caveman Lifestyle to it's fullest basically means to constantly switch between 4 modes (in this order):

Fast mode

A Modern Caveman's day starts in fast mode – fast as in fasting. Cavemen didn't necessarily eat breakfast and neither will you. Staying in fast mode means eating very little (undereating) or no food ( fasting) during the day and drinking lots of fluids (water or tea). Fast mode is when you get things done. As you get used to it, your brain will eventually start working better - you'll be more alert and focused.

This may be because back in the day, humans had to constantly look for food. They needed to stay alert in case a predator comes and they needed to remember where the food sources are located.

Unlike cavemen, you don't have to worry about where your evening meal will come from. You can use this period of mental sharpness to be productive and do some work that matters.

Beast mode

After a period of fasting and undereating, it's time for a hunt - Beast mode. Beast mode is when your body works at very high gears. It's not about running 20 miles at a slow pace. And it's certainly not about doing isolated movements to pump your muscles. Beast mode involves running for your life, lifting heavy objects and fighting enemies - a lot of acute stress for your body.

The enormous stress you put on your muscles will force your body to adapt. But in order for your body to deal with all this, you need to supply the right nutrition and give it a proper rest.

Feast mode

This brings us to feast mode. During beast mode, you've caused a lot of internal micro-damage to your body. Now it needs to repair itself and your role is to supply all the essential nutrients. You'll be eating a boatload of vegetables and fats and just enough protein, making sure you're giving your body what it needs.

Feast mode is basically eating like crazy. You'll increase your portion size significantly, maybe even triple it if you've been eating multiple times a day. If you like eating, you'll absolutely love feast mode.

Rest mode

After a huge feast, your body switches into rest mode. This is when you chill out, relax and let your body heal itself. Getting enough high quality sleep is just as important to your health as all the other Caveman Principles.

Ensuring the right conditions for sleep enables your body to completely recuperate from the hardships of the previous day and get ready for the next one.
