(Remote Pager Basics)

by justin courtney

Does your Husky pull on the leash?Does your Husky not come when called around distractions? or even have an unreliable recall when there aren’t any distractions?Does your Husky act like you’re not even there as soon as you step outside? Have you tried absolutely every training technique and tip out there and still nothing worked?Have Dog Trainers failed both you and your dog in the past?Have you been looking into Remote Pager eCollar training and was wondering how to get started?Do you wish you could have more FREEDOM for both you and your HUSKY?
Well, if you’ve answered ‘YES’ to one or all of these questions then this e-Book is for YOU.

Pulling on the leash and not being able to recall your Husky around distractions are two of the BIGGEST problems that Husky owners have to frustratingly endure on a daily basis. It was no different for me. Please take solace in knowing that you are not alone

Now I thought I had trained some ‘pullers’ in the past, how naive I was until I got my first Siberian Husky.. Summer!

The most joyful and playful ball of fluff with so much energy she’d wear you out just watching her, she’s a lot of fun and she was certainly a lot of fun to raise. But all that fun soon turned to frustration the minute I’d walk out that door and be faced with even the slightest distraction. As a puppy, months and months would go by and Summer would be choking herself herself on the end of the leash from the persistent pulling. It was upsetting seeing her gasping for air knowing no matter what I did, what training method I applied or what treat I had in my hand, she would rather go head first into any passing distraction. How many of you have experienced or are still experiencing that one?

There were days when I felt like I couldn’t even face walking her, days where I would have to just come home early from a walk and days thinking, “Have I done the right thing here with this puppy?” Then she’d give me those eyes with the cutest little face:

…and I’d instantly feel guilty for even having thought that!!

But that is the level of frustration that had been created from months and months of incessant and relentless pulling. Like most Siberian Huskies, Summer is extremely smart and perhaps at times, a little too smart for her own good. If we weren’t faced with a distraction then she could do most commands no problem, including heel, so I knew she could do it. I just couldn’t seem to hold her attention enough when faced with a distraction regardless of my attempts. I didn’t even personally have the energy to do that for an entire 45 minute walk. I tried food, toys, squeaky toys, jumping up and down like an idiot, the back and forth, the zig zagging, leash popping.. EVERYTHING..

..NOTHING WORKED!!

People were always telling me that a Siberian Husky cannot be trained, that they should never be allowed off leash, they were bred to pull so you’ll never stop that or get anywhere with them. I just flat out refused to believe it. I knew Summer, I knew she was capable of it, I just needed to find a way.

I was so desperate just to be able to enjoy some relaxing time with my Siberian Husky Summer on a walk that I continued looking for answers that conventional dog training just wasn’t answering.

So with much determination and gusto I set forth far and wide onto the internet to find my answers.

During that search I came across a lot of information but a couple of people caught my eye on Youtube because they were doing things with Siberian Huskies I’d never seen before. They were Kelly Blackwell from USA and Catalin Cornea from Romania.

I remember the first time that I saw these videos and I was gobsmacked and in awe, thinking ‘Wow, I wish I could do that with my Husky one day!’.

Kelly was walking Jameson a Siberian Husky in heel through a shopping center surrounded by distractions and in the next one having him recall every time around dog distractions.

Catalin was working his Siberian Husky student Max out in the open getting him to heel, recall and stay at distance and even getting Max to pick up and hold a suitcase whilst they heeled away. All this in the open with both human and dog distractions!

That was it. I knew deep down they could be trained around distractions. Now I have my confirmation!

And now?

Well, here’s me earlier this year  walking Scarlett, a Siberian Husky, in heel down an aisle of one of the very exact stores I saw on Kellys YouTube channel in 2012.

Kelly’s channel was where I first ever heard of an e-Collar with an added Pager function (vibration – just like your cell phone). Now of course I had heard about e-Collars before and well aware of their reputation but all I saw in her videos were animated, motivated and happy dogs. I was slightly apprehensive about using the Collar at first but soon overcame that when I realised I could potentially be dooming Summer to an existence of remaining on leash choking herself to death rather than being able to run free and enjoying life like every dog deserves.

So last year I got to work and incorporated the Pager e-Collar into my training with Summer. Needless to say it paid off massively around distractions. And for the first time since Summer was a puppy, we started to have stress free leash walks.

After achieving such quick and incredible results with Summer using the Pager e-Collar I knew this was the direction I wanted to send my dog training business in once I started it. I’d never seen results like it, it truly is an unbelievable and misunderstood tool, but no doubt the Future of Dog Training.

It really has changed both mine and my Siberian Husky Summer’s life in so many ways. She has so much freedom off leash it would make any other dog jealous. She can walk in perfect heel around any distraction, and I know I can get her to recall around any distraction. When you’ve faced what I have with my Husky, when something is able to achieve some rapid and mind bending results like that, you become pretty passionate about it and you can’t help but tell others about it and want to help others in the same situation. I want to help others to be able to walk calmly and leisurely with their dogs and allow their dog some off leash time just like I’m now able to.

This system is almost so easy that anybody can do it, as long as you’re willing to put in the time and effort and dedication that training a dog requires. But I promise you, no, I guarantee you, that if you follow the advice in this book, you will be able to have your Dog walking in heel and recalling around distractions in a matter of months maybe even weeks. But remember, there is never a ‘simple’ fix and there certainly isn’t any secrets. We are changing behaviours and this takes time for lasting results.
