DEAR FRIEND
My name is _A. Scott Roberts_ and I know what its like to be
addicted. I started to chew tobacco and drink when I was 15 years
old. I went to rehabs, I ATTENDED_ AA_ AND I EVEN HAD MOUTH SURGERY
BECAUSE OF DAMAGE LEFT FROM CHEWING TOBACCO.
Using data-driven and evidence-based practices allowed me to
successfully manage my addictions to the point where I no longer
desire them because I learned what addictions really are, how they
affect the brain and why many recovery methods do not work.
After nearly a decade of sobriety, I started to put together this
system to help others as it has helped myself. You cannot find a
system like this out there. As a POST-GRADUATE STUDENT IN
REHABILITATION COUNSELING, A BACHELORS IN PSYCHOLOGY, AN ASSOCIATES IN
BUSINESS AND A MINOR IN SOCIOLOGY, I appreciate evidenced-based
practices to say the least! I HAVE ALSO WORKED AT A COUNSELING CENTER
and served a volunteer mission to help others as I have helped myself.
I have a unique perspective because I see both sides of addiction. It
is something that I have suffered with and I understand the counseling
side and scientific explanations behind it.
This is a surefire evidence-based system that contains years of
dedicated research and expertise to help you to kick the habit and
help those you love. This is a very rare data-driven system that is
very powerful and few people know about it. Every claim in this system
is backed up by references! How many other programs can say that!
HOW CAN WE MANAGE ADDICTION WHEN IT IS SO LARGELY MISUNDERSTOOD? TO
SOME, IT IS EVEN A MYSTERY. SCIENCE HAS TAKEN HUGE LEAPS INTO
UNDERSTANDING HOW ADDICTION AFFECTS THE BRAIN AND WHAT EVIDENCE-BASED
METHODS HAVE SHOWN TO IMPROVE IT.
THERE ARE BASICALLY TWO PARTS OF OUR BRAIN: The neocortex and the
limbic system. The neocortex (more particularly, the prefrontal
cortex) is a higher functioning part of the brain which is rational,
logical and moral. This region of the brain sits on top of the limbic
system.
The limbic system is a primitive brain that has no ability to delay
gratification. In a sense, it is pleasure-oriented and selfish. It is
concerned with seeking pleasure and fleeing pain. There are no values
or morals that are associated with the limbic system. It is a region
in which they do not exist.
THE LIMBIC SYSTEM PRE-DATES (IN EVOLUTION AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT) THE
PREFRONTAL CORTEX. In fact, the amygdala (part of the limbic system)
is completely developed by the time humans are 5 years old, whereas
the prefrontal cortex is still developing into our mid-twenties. THIS
HELPS EXPLAIN WHY TEENAGERS ARE EXTREMELY VULNERABLE!
Understanding the role of these two parts of the brain is vital to
understanding addictions.
PROBLEM 1
Once an addict has moved through the required steps in a treatment
program, they are congratulated and released. This is becoming a major
problem that is recognized on a national level. As a result of
graduating, the addict thinks he is _"cured"_ and often falls back
into the same destructive behaviors. This is why there is such a high
recidivism rate.
In many cases, especially in the case of prolonged and heavy drug
use, the brain is still addicted and may even have permanent changes
in the brain. This is why scientists call it a disease.1
BUT DON'T SHY AWAY NOW!
Often when addicts think that recovery _could_ be a lifetime process,
they shrink. They would rather complete some steps, or graduate with a
degree in sobriety and be cured so they can move on with the rest of
their life. The reality is, that the _cure_ is the problem - leading
to more relapses – and in the end, harder to forego. Further down
this page you will find references to studies that show that addicts'
brains may be improved by certain practices!
BELIEVE ME. DAILY MAINTENANCE OF ADDICTION IS MUCH EASIER THAN
RELAPSING OVER AND OVER AGAIN, WASTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS ON HIGH
END REHABS AND TREATMENT CENTERS OR RISK HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE LAW.
AND IN THE END, NOT AN INCH CLOSER TO WHAT ADDICTION _REALLY_ IS AND
WHAT EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES REVEAL!
PROBLEM 2
Some recovery programs treat relapse as a sign of defeat, instead of
a crucial part of the recovery process. There probably couldn’t be a
more harmful doctrine to an addict than to think that all the days,
weeks, months or years of sobriety didn’t mean anything because he
slipped. IN FACT, STUDIES SHOW THAT SOME BRAIN CHANGES, SUCH AS CELL
REGENERATION, OCCUR EVEN AFTER ONLY A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER SOBRIETY.2
A relapse is actually a stepping stone through treatment. RESEARCH
INDICATES THAT RELAPSES ARE GENERALLY NOT CAUSED BY PHYSICAL CRAVINGS
AS ONCE THOUGHT, BUT BY EMOTIONAL STATES.3 This reveals the great
progress the addict has_ actually_ achieved. The doctrine of relapse
is so harmful because when the addict thinks he has to start all over
again, IT FEEDS THE VERY EMOTIONS THAT LED HIM INTO ADDICTION IN THE
FIRST PLACE!
Recovery and treatment is more like climbing a hill. If you slip and
fall you don’t fall all the way down to the bottom, you just fall
back a few feet, get up and then continue climbing.
PROBLEM 3
Another particular problem with some recovery centers is something
called cross-addictions. For example, you may find in some treatment
groups, alcoholics smoke a lot, recovering narcotic addicts are
drinking a lot and that gambling chips are even used to count days
of sobriety. The limbic system doesn't mind if you go to a program as
long as "_it_" gets the needed boost of dopamine that perpetuates the
addiction. _(Gambling chips can cause a problem because research shows
that the brain of an addict will trigger dopamine during the
anticipation of a reward as much as receiving the reward itself -
perpetuating the addiction).4_
RESEARCHERS CONCLUDE THAT NEARLY ALL ADDICTIONS ARE THE SAME. They
call it a "common neural currency" because addictive behaviors trigger
a chemical response in the brain just as taking drugs would. This
includes gambling, computer games, shopping, tanning, sex,
masturbation, thrill-seeking behavior and even overeating.5

MINDFULNESS BASED COGNITIVE THERAPY FOR ADDICTIONS MP3
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy MP3 Audio Training is A Perfect
Complement to the Truth of Addiction Ebook.
Mindfulness-based meditation has been supported by research to have
great results in addiction recovery.6 Mindfulness meditation has been
shown to help addicts to better manage their emotions and has been
backed up by abundant studies as a very effective treatment option.7
People that are trained in mindfulness have been shown to have a
greater ability to stop smoking8 and reduce substance abuse intake.9
THE REASON WHY MINDFULNESS BASED MEDIATION IS SO EFFECTIVE, AS
SUPPORTED BY ABUNDANT STUDIES, IS BECAUSE IT HELPS THE INDIVIDUAL TO
LEARN TO REGULATE EMOTIONS RELATED TO RELAPSE AND TO REDIRECT
ATTENTION WHEN THE MIND IS DISTRACTED FROM INTRUSIVE THOUGHTS, both
that are internally or externally generated. It has been shown to be
very effective with cravings, triggers and negative thoughts. This
audio has been professionally recorded by an expert for the purpose of
addiction recovery.
The Ebook is jam packed with evidence and data-based practices
consisting of 180 pages of an in-depth look at what addictions really
are, how they affect the brain and what evidence-based research
suggests!
_NOTE: Truth Of Addiction is a downloadable product. After completed
payment, you will receive instant access to the Truth Of Addiction
(eBook) and its accompanying Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy for
Addiction (MP3). Both downloadable products are compatible with all

* THE ONLY PROGRAM BACKED UP BY RESEARCH! Includes several
invaluable methods for overcoming addiction. How to properly manage
cravings, triggers, urges and relapses and why many of them are
misunderstood and mistreated.
* HELPS YOU TO UNDERSTAND WHY ADDICTIONS CANNOT BE WISHED OR WILLED
AWAY! From an evolutionary standpoint, neural systems were used nearly
600 million years ago by anthropoids, invertebrate phyla and
mollusks20 before the development of rational thought. Human brains
are not designed to deal with modern rewards that directly stimulate
THE MOTIVATIONAL-INCENTIVE SYSTEM THAT PRE-DATES RATIONAL THOUGHT.21
* HAVING A CORRECT UNDERSTANDING OF ADDICTION CAN HELP YOU AND THOSE
YOU LOVE. When addiction is a mystery, it isn't properly treated. For
example, FIGHTING OR SUPPRESSING CRAVINGS CAN MAKE MATTERS WORSE.
ACCEPTANCE IS BETTER THAN SUPPRESSION OF NEGATIVE THOUGHTS.15 RESEARCH
SHOWS US THAT INDIVIDUALS WHO TRY TO SUPPRESS NEGATIVE THOUGHTS AND
CRAVINGS, ACTUALLY ARE LED TO INCREASED SUBSTANCE ABUSE15 because this
feeds the limbic system which views this as a threat and the limbic
system goes into _"fight or flight"_ mode.
* WHEN PATIENTS PARTICIPATED IN A 10 DAY PROGRAM OF
MINDFULNESS-BASED MEDIATION THE RESULTS SHOWED IMPROVED RECOVERY.16
Mindfulness based cognitive therapy is important because individuals
learn to use the non-reactivity principle to thoughts and cravings
that intrude. Most people engage in addictive behaviors because of
their intrusive emotions that make them feel stressed out, fatigued,
lonely, bored or tired, all of which have been shown to perpetuate
addictions - which mindfulness meditation has been shown to improve!17
* ADDICTIONS (ESPECIALLY HEAVY DRUG USE) HAVE BEEN DESCRIBED BY THE
MEDICAL COMMUNITY AS A DISEASE because they can change the structure
and function of the brain. Prolonged over-stimulation of the limbic
reward center in the addict's brain causes a deficit which has been
validated by neuroscientists. HOWEVER, RECENT RESEARCH SHOWS THAT
NEUROPLASTICITY OR NEUROGENISIS MAY BE POSSIBLE. Neuroplasticity
describes the brain as malleable and able to change by adding or
removing connections within he brain associated with learning and
experiences. Neurogenisis is the birth of new neurons which was only
believed to occur during embryonic stages in mammals18 but recent
research shows that that neurons are added to regions of an adult
mammal central nervous system.19
* NEUROPLASTICITY HAS BEEN SHOWN TO OCCUR AS THE RESULT OF
MEDITATION20 AS WELL AS PRODUCING A SUSTAINED CHANGE IN THE BRAIN.21
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy has been particularly important
and effective in drug addiction,22 in compulsive disorders,23 and in
prevention of depression and anxiety,24 all of which have been found
to impel an addict to use or continue to use!25
* THE TRUTH OF ADDICTION SYSTEM REVEALS HOW ADDICTION AFFECTS THE
BRAIN AND HOW CERTAIN EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICES IMPROVED SUBJECTS'
RECOVERY. Addictions may cause many problems. Addicts often have an
impaired ability to recognition emotions in the facial expressions of
others, such as anger, fear, happiness, or disgust. This can cause the
addict to fail to recognize social cues that can make the addict less
able to make proper decisions in relationships or social environments.
This explains why some _addicts have less empathy and increased
aggression.26_
* RESTORE YOUR EMPATHY, LOVE AND RELATIONSHIPS. One study showed
that meditators permanently changed their brain to be more
empathetic._27_ Addiction is not a solitary disorder, it affects both
the addict and loved ones as well.
WHY DOES MY ADDICTED LOVED ONE SEEM LIKE A DIFFERENT PERSON?
FAMILY MEMBERS OF ADDICTS OFTEN DESCRIBE THEIR LOVED ONE AS A MR.
JEKYLL AND DR. HYDE BECAUSE THEY EXHIBIT SUDDEN MOOD CHANGES. This is
often apparent to the addict themselves. They feel as if there is
someone else inside of them urging them to use while the other part of
them tells them not to.
THE BRAIN HAS BEEN DESCRIBED BY NEUROSCIENCE AS A FUNCTIONING “TEAM
OF RIVALS.”10 This is because the brain is a multiple structured
system in which the different structures fight against each other for
dominance. In order for the brain to properly operate, it must be at
balance. Long-term use of the addict's drug of choice, throws off this
balance in which the rational part of the brain is "_hijacked"_ by the
pre-rational brain (the limbic system) that is associated with
pleasure.11
Research indicates that an addiction, whether it be drugs or
pornography, causes an imbalance of the brain in which the emotional
part overrides the rational part because of the high psychological
payoff that the addictive material provides to the addict's brain.
Therefore, A NORMALLY BALANCED BRAIN BECOMES SWITCHED INTO A
PATHOLOGICALLY IMBALANCED BRAIN. Science refers to this process as
“hijacking.”12
Researchers believe that some experiences that are either very
pleasurable or very frightening can even make the NEURAL FIRING
PATHWAY BECOME PERMANENTLY IMPRINTED JUST FROM A SINGLE AND POWERFUL
EVENT! These are called emotional memories. Neuroscience now
recognizes that these emotional memories can be created by a very
pleasurable experience such as a drug high or pornography.13 This is
why young children are particularly susceptible. Their first exposure
to drugs or pornography can create emotional memories when their
limbic system is fully developed and their prefrontal cortex (rational
part of brain) is still developing.
This becomes a problem because this process happens not only
unconsciously but also instantaneously. One can see how dangerous this
process is. EMOTIONAL MEMORIES HAVE THE POWER TO STAMP OUT RATIONAL
MEMORIES OF ADDICTIVE BEHAVIORS (WITH THEIR WORSENING CONSEQUENCES)
AND WORK LARGELY AT AN UNCONSCIOUS AND INSTANTANEOUS LEVEL.14

It is common for addicts, years later when they are sober, to express
things such as, “I cant believe I did those things,” or, “I
can't believe that was me, back then." Study after study suggests that
some practices can make changes in the brain that can be permanent! WE
