So I used one method by accident and resulted in about 5000 visits
over a 4 day period!
You can imagine my shock and joy seeing that.
At the time I was “monetizing” my site with ads.
At the end of 5 days when the traffic started to die off again how
much did I make?
$17.44!!!
CHA-CHING!
WOW! If I can just do that every single day I could maybe clear about
$300 a month!
That was BIG MONEY for me. Would have been the most I had made to

And they were not going to pay the existing earnings.

I already read a TON of books and I was already writing my reviews
and summaries on my blog.
So to me this was a no brainer!
Guess what?
IT WORKED!
I took a current best seller I was reading, summarized each chapter
in my own words, slapped it together and put it on AMAZON!
THE VERY FIRST DAY I SOLD 35 COPIES!
I WAS STOKED!
That ONE book ended up making about $947 bucks the very first month!
I didn’t do anything. No backlinking. No asking friends.
NOTHING!
No promotion at all! Amazon has all the traffic built in.
Everything was going great. I thought, just write 5 or 6 of these and
I could be making $3-$5000 a month on autopilot!
I was hooked!
Dream job for me.
Getting paid to read books I was already reading and talking about.
Started on my second book!
Purchased another new book.
Started reading and taking notes.
Finished it up.
Got it edited and ready to submit….
But I cant login!
My account is suspended!
????
YEP!
Income stream down to zero overnight!
So…
Weeks go by with constant emails back and forth with support.
(WAAAAY MORE FRIENDLY AND RESPONSIVE THAN GOOGLE)
Actually gave me an explanation.
Said that the author of the original title filed a copyright claim
against my book.
I replied that is insane! Did they actually read it?
There is not a single word of my book that was copied from the
original.
I worked my tail off writing and even explaining the more complex
points thoroughly and even adding more resources where I felt the
author lacked.
Amazon replied back that they are a neutral party and don’t
investigate at all.
If there is ANY claim their standard procedure is to remove the book
until it is solved.
Makes sense!
I didn’t have to like it… but it made sense.
It didn’t seem fair because at the time there were 4 other books
that summarized the exact same book as me.
Well….
There WAS!
Turns out the author put a claim on ALL of the books that were
summarizing his.
They were ALL removed.
My assumption is that because it was a first time author he didn’t
like seeing it summarized and got a wild hair up his….
Moving on
I wasn’t giving up that easy.
This was the most I had made and felt I was on to something!
(by the way. I removed that book and Amazon reinstated my account
with a warning. So much more friendly than Google)
What did all these “monetization” strategies have in common?
I was at the mercy of someone else!
I was not in control of the income, the payments, the sales…
nothing.
So I thought, what if I just sell it myself!
Maybe on my blog.
Or Ebay
Or even some of the other major digital market places like Clickbank.
So that is what I did.
I put up a sales page.
I started blogging about it and sending traffic to it.
Now, not constrained by Amazon’s limits I could raise the price to
whatever I wanted.
I started it at $7
Made a few sales.
Sent more traffic
Made MORE sales
How can I make even more?
I raised the price.
Thought if sales dropped I could always lower the price again.
But it didn’t!
The sales kept coming in.
It was easy. The more traffic I sent, the more I made.
I now had a purpose to my blogging.
Everything I wrote on that site was about that product.
Related topics.
Everything someone might be interested in with every posting having a
link to the book.
What followed of the next few months was me creating lots of
different books, programs, courses, training.. You name it.
Some sold really well…
SOME ABSOLUTELY BOMBED!
The thing about training is nothing teaches you better than
experience.
After comparing all the products that flopped with the ones that were
consistently selling I found they all had one thing in common.
