SCIATICA RELIEF SUCCESS AND HOW TO GET IT

It is possible to obtain sciatica relief success without an
operation. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the human body
and runs from the spinal cord in the back down the legs to the feet
and toes. This is why the pain incurred is so often widespread. When
the nerve is irritated, most people feel pain that spreads from the
lower back into the legs making walking or standing uncomfortable.
Sometimes it is a constant, dull pain. Other times it is sharp and
intermittent.

Get A Medical Diagnosis. Because there are a number of physical
conditions that could be the root cause, it is a good idea to consult
a medical expert. In addition, some ailments can reproduce the same
conditions but have entirely different causes. A physical exam plus
x-ray is usually the medical course of action. The doctor will also
want to know about your lifestyle and medical history.

SOME POSSIBLE CAUSES

Some possible causes include tumors, internal bleeding or
degenerative disk disease. It sometimes occurs during pregnancy or
when the back muscles have been overly strained through improper
exercise. Sometimes a herniated disk is the culprit. All of these can
result in a pinched nerve that gives off uncomfortable pain signals.

Medical Action. One medical expert who can help alleviate this
condition considerably is a chiropractor. A chiropractor is expert in
methods that assist natural healing. If a patient is in extreme pain,
he may recommend a reliable pain killer. But his first option will be
either ice pack therapy or hot pads. Spinal manipulation is also used
to relocate bones or disks that are pressing on each other.

Stretch Exercising. Yoga stretch exercises can also relieve pain as
they work to extend the spine. Hanging from the top of a door frame by
the hands is a recommended exercise. First place a hand towel to
cushion the hands from the wooden edges. Begin by hanging for a few
seconds and then gradually extending the time. Do this several times
throughout the day. This helps take the pressure off and helps extend
the spinal column.

Also helpful are popular warm up stretches such as the Plank and Down
Dog. First position for the Plank is lying on the floor and then using
the elbows to raise the body. Keeping the feet and back straight, try
holding this position for two minutes, working up gradually.

The Down Dog exercise is done with hands and feet on the floor and
with the bottom in the air. Doing a gentle stretch, try to keep the
heels flat on the floor. Do this exercise regularly, holding the count
until one is able to work up to 30 seconds at a time. Doing these
exercises gently but consistently allows the weight of the body to
help extend the back and spine.

A RECOMMENDED COURSE OF HEALING

Any exercises that strengthen the core muscles are also helpful. If
the stomach muscles are strong, they can help support the weaker back
muscles. Doing modified sit ups that do not put stress on the lower
back can help.

This condition has often improved of itself, given enough time and
rest. A recommended course of healing includes yoga stretches and
avoiding additional pressure on the lower back.
