many financial problems, unpaid bills and emotional distress that led
me to be really unwell until I lost my job. I had a job that pays me
US$70 per day but the workload was a bit too much for me to handle,
and my take home income was just enough to pay for rent and to
survive.
So there I was, struggling with life in a downward spiralling
pattern. I was drowning in the troubles and health problems. Cold,
flu and allergies hit me hard, and that made things worse. I was not
able to work for 18 weeks and as a result of being absent from work
for too long, I lost my job, my only source of income.
I was in despair. I was ashamed of myself but someone came to my
rescue. She was none other than my loving and caring mother. She
reassured me that things will work out in the future but I must first
get better and be on my feet again. She told me to get well and fix
one thing at a time.
She immediately took me out for a walk around town, to get some fresh
air. I looked haggard, disturbed, face swelled up with hives and runny
nose. The medicines I took did not resolve the symptoms. My immune
system was low and medicine alone did no good to my body.
As we were walking down the road, there was a juice bar selling all
sorts of juices. Mother spotted the juice bar and ordered a mix of
green vegetables juice for the both of us. I was a bit reluctant to
drink it. I disliked the idea of drinking vegetable juice since I was
a kid. Mother forced me to drink the green juice. We went back home
after circling the town for the next 2 hours.
A miracle happened the next morning. I felt energetic, more focused
and alive. I did not feel depressed anymore. It struck me that it
could be my mother’s love and affection that fixed me and the
refreshing walk around town. Oh, it was the good energy that I
received, I needed that. My mother was happy to see me sitting at the
dining table for breakfast. She did not comment anything but her
gestures meant so much. A few minutes later, she handed over a glass
of green juice and a glass of fruit juice to me from the kitchen
counter. She said, “drink this. This is your breakfast”. I looked
at her in disbelief. This could not be breakfast. I looked around,
there was no eggs or toast. I did not want to offend her, so I just
gulped down the juices. I wanted to say that I was hungry, but the
hunger went away a few minutes after I filled my tummy with the green
juice. I felt full and I burped. Wow! That was my breakfast. I did not
say anything to my mother and immediately went back to my room to
rest.
As I was lying down in bed staring at my vision board, I realized
that my senses became sharper. I felt determined. I felt healthier. I
then realized that there must be something in the juice. I jumped out
the bed and ran down to the kitchen to ask mother what did she put in
the juice? I certainly felt better! She said calmly to me that it was
just juice. I doubted her but in an excited way. I knew this was
something and it will turn out great for me.
I quickly grabbed my bike and sped off to the juice bar. I looked up
the menu and jotted down the items in the menu. Wow! The prices were
quite steep. For someone who used to earn as little as USD$70 a day, I
will not be able to spend that much money for just juice.
I knew that the juice was making me better, because I can feel it
