_Stage Of Kids’ Birthday Party Insanity:  Nearing full-on
insanity, but saved by “Cake Time!”_

My wife and I were at a birthday party for a friend of our
daughter’s and it was cake time.  They were serving delicious
full-fat ice cream cake, which is all kinds of awesome.

In between bites I noticed a couple glancing over at me, then
whispering to one another.  If you ever want to make someone feel
like they’re a slob, or have some type of embarrassing skin
condition, do what they were doing.  I was constantly wiping my face
and checking my nose just in case.

After the third time I gave them both a little head nod in between
giant mouthfuls of cake.  That must have been the sign because she
walked over and said, “You’re a trainer, right?”

“Yep.” I said before taking another giant bite.

“Then how can you eat not one, but two pieces of ice cream cake and
look like _THAT_?” That statement came with the up and down glance,
that if this weren’t a kids’ birthday party would have made me
feel like I was being sized-up!

“What do you mean?” I asked,  “Why do you think I can’t eat
cake and look like thisbetter yet, _WHY DO YOU THINK YOU CAN’T EAT
CAKE AND LOOK GOOD?_” I knew this was instantly turning into a
consultation, which was fine because it got me away from the chaos of
a 5-year old’s birthday party.

“Because there’s so much sugar and calories in that cake!  I’m
getting fat just watching you eat it, yet you’re devouring it like
it’s your last meal!”  By this time her husband Jeff also joined
the conversation.  Her name was Christine, which I learned halfway
through our conversation.

I told her _it was OKAY TO RELAX YOUR EATING_ habits every now and
again and _ENJOY YOURSELF AND STILL LOOK AND FEEL GREAT_.  There’s
no reason you can’t eat dessert, or “bad” foods because life
would be a very dull existence if you weren’t able to enjoy good
food.

She continued, “We’ve tried so many different diets and workout
programs, and most of them work, but it’s always the same.  You
either have to do a crazy workout program, crash diet, or a
combination of both.  We even tried one of those diets where you eat
like 600 calories a day and get shot up with hormones.”

Jeff finally spoke, “I keep telling Christine it’s because
we’re _GETTING OLDER_.  We’re not in our 20s anymore, we have
kids, and our hormones aren’t working the way they used to.  _AGE
MAKES IT TOUGHER TO LOSE WEIGHT._”

They weren’t oldhe was 41 and she was 39.

After listening a bit more it was my turn to cut in with answers.  I
said, “You’re trying too hard and blaming the wrong things. 
Weight loss, and keeping it off, is really about two things.  It’s
about getting a fast start, then building on that momentum into
something realistic, and it’s about using a workout system that
works with YOUR lifestyle rather than trying to bend your life around
an unrealistic program.”

“If you don’t have 60-90 minutes a day to devote to a workout,
then don’t try because you’ll fail, which will make you feel
horrible about yourself.

If you want to enjoy dessert every now and then, then don’t attempt
to do a diet that doesn’t allow it, or supplies disgusting fake
foods that come in small packages because you won’t like it, then
after a month or two you’ll quiteven if you’re seeing results.
 Not only that but something that makes you look and feel young.
 You're not old, but diet programs typically make you age faster,
which I'm sure you don't want.”

“Yes, the beginning is tough, but that’s just because you’re
trying to lose what took years to be put on and you’re battling
forces that are trying to keep you fat like refined carbohydrates,
boxed foods, the way restaurants prepare their foods and unhealthy
fats.”

I continued

“You also need a ‘_SPARK_;’ something that will give you quick
results, but that’s realistic with your lifestyle and allows some
wiggle room and then shows you how to continue on with an easier
lifestyle so you can keep the results…

..and eat 2 pieces of ice cream cake at birthday parties!”

Both Jeff and Christine were starting to get it and relieved that
they could accomplish their goals without becoming insane, but I had
to finish by telling them these…

6 TRUTHS TO NOT ONLY DESTROY YOUR UNWANTED FAT, BUT LOOK YOUNGER,
FEEL YOUNGER

STOP DOING WORKOUTS THAT MAKE YOU AGE FASTER AND DESTROY YOUR ENERGY

Intense workouts are great.  Intense workouts can make you lose
weight quickly, increase your energy levels and leave you feeling
great.

When you pair an intense workout with a _LONG_ workout, you get the
_OPPOSITE_.  Yes, you may get results, but if you continue you will
age faster, pound your joints into dust, force your body to start
eating away at its muscle tissue, and your energy levels will drop -
especially when paired with a super-low calorie diet program.

This includes cardio.  I'm sure you've heard that long, moderate
cardio is not the best for weight loss.  It takes too long and you
can get better results by focusing on short, yet intense workouts that

There are foods that make you age faster and there are foods that
make you feel young and alive.  Not only that, but there are foods

Healthy fats lead to healthy hormone levels, and so much more.  They

Start breathing

Did I actually just tell you to breathe?  As if you don’t breathe
every second of every day?  Your breathing patterns are horrible.
 Have you ever paid attention to how you breathe?  Most people
don’t breathe smoothly, they use their chest too much and hold their
breath at random intervals throughout the day - especially if
they’re stressed.  Not only that, but the more weight you have to
lose, the worse your breathing patterns.

If you don't breathe properly, your muscles won’t get enough oxygen
to work, which will drop your energy levels to _ZERO_.

If you don’t breathe properly your brain won’t get the oxygen it
needs, which will make you tired and want to reach for energy boosting
foods and drinks - things like coffee, energy drinks or simple
carbohydrates.

Proper breathing is relaxing - how many times have you been told that
taking deep breaths will help soothe and relax you?  If you breathe
normally throughout hte day this won't be necessary.

Stop blaming your age and hormones

If you’ve paid attention to radio or  television commercials
lately you’ve noticed an increase in supplements, especially for
men, designed to boost testosterone and growth hormone.  They use
flashy, medical-sounding buzzwords, tell you the reason you’re fat,
weak and have no sex drive is because you’re over 30 and your
hormones are in the gutter.  But is it true?  Are hormones really
the problem or did something else, besides age, cause them to
decrease?  What lead to a decrease in those hormones, for men and
women, is the lack of proper nutrition and workouts.

Too much cardio, too many processed foods, too much booze -
especially beer - and yo-yo dieting all lead to a decrease in hormones
like testosterone and growth hormoneand this effects ladies too. 
It’s NOT just a man’s problem.

Are your hormones causing weight gain, lack of sex drive and making
you age quicker than you should?  Possibly, but something had to make

 Use your motivation to focus on small steps in the system, achieve
success, recognize that success and keep your motivation to continue
high.  This is the true key and it’s what separates those that

I must warn you, a good “Spark,” or Challenge, is _NOT_ easy, nor
is it for everyone.  A good Challenge will be intense enough to make
you feel like you’re working, but also set in reality so _YOU WANT
TO CONTINUE_ - intense enough to elicit a _HUGE CALORIE BURN AND FAT
LOSS RESPONSE_, but based in reality so that all of your energy
isn’t sucked into the workout; nor does it take all your free time.
