with it. He decided to stay where the rehab was, in Lancaster, and
within a month he was using heroin again, so I brought him back home
after everything had fallen apart.
It was very hard understanding how my partner had changed the first
time he went to rehab, which again was another one of my reasons for
writing the ebook. Families are not involved in the rehab process and
I feel it is very important that they should understand how that
person has changed as they still see them as the addict they were.
The second rehab did work but this time I did understand how he had
changed from the research I had done, but the rehab didn’t involve
us as a family and then I felt that something was missing….The link
to stay clean and remain as a family!
In August 2011 I decided to write a ebook called “Kick Ass Kick
Addiction.” I wanted to help families who had gone through the
similar scenarios that I had, but have felt they had no-one or very
few people to turn to. Perhaps they didn’t have the funding to send

Government, or even had their loved one go through rehab and they just
quit because they couldn’t handle it. I feel that rehab is
restricted in terms of what it can actually do for an addict and

families too.
Families feel isolated and ashamed that they have a member of the
