Snacks help to keep your blood sugar levels from dropping- this will keeping your energy stable to get you through your working day and to the next main meal. It is ideal to ‘snack’ all day in small controlled portions.
2. What is the difference between a good snack and a bad snack?
A good snack will keep your blood sugars stable (even) making you feel alert and energised for a long period of time…..e.g. some fruit and nuts. You’ll be getting calories plus essential nutrients
A bad snack will sky rocket your blood sugar levels high and then plummet them down very quickly leaving you feeling flat and lifeless. Eg soft drink and chocolate bar. You’ll be getting a lot of calories without the nutrients.
3. What are the secrets to the perfect health diet?
Snack regularly on nutrient packed foods. Aim for lots of variety in colour. Foods that are high in protein, high in good quality fats and little to no sugar.
We all need more “green” in our diet. So find ways to increase your intake of raw greens – at every meal. Green breakfast smoothies, salads with lunch and a variety of greens with your dinner. Variety of organic produce is the key. Organic may be expensive BUT you get sooo much more (eg nutrients)
