Dear Parents and fun seekers
Do you ever look at your kids glued to a flat screen, pushing knobs and joysticks totally oblivious to the world around them?
Does it bother you that communication is often reduced to a reluctant grunt between exploding asteroids on a flat screen? Nourishment and toilet breaks while providing some exercise are actually treated as an intrusion.
It bothered me enough to set me on a path looking for some other forms of healthy entertainment for the kids. We live in today’s technology driven world. But while recognising times have changed it occurred to me that I had some great times as a kid.
It occurred to me that perhaps we have allowed this on screen electronic wizardry to dictate our lives far more than we should. I really like electronics too. But all good things in moderation!
I remembered a fantastic toy I had as a kid and set about trying to recreate it without the constraints the original toy had. It took many hours to perfect the lunar explorer and I spent many dollars on gadgets to fly it with. My wife found the answer much to my delight and we show you that in the book.

I must admit I was a little fearful that the kids just would not want to make and play with the moon base. You know the cries of “do I have to” and “oh dad” would be ringing in my ears.
