THE STORY OF THE CHRISTMAS TABLECLOTH
When my son was a baby, I saw a beautiful hand-painted Christmas
tablecloth with typical Christmas imagery in an upmarket designer
store. But it was way out of my price range. When you have children of
your own you want to make each Christmas a special family occasion.
Perhaps like me, you have special Christmas decorations that you add
to over time, bringing them out year after year at Christmas time,
creating a tradition that the children and other family members
remember.
And for every mother especially, the story of the Nativity and the
baby Jesus is very special. Many mothers see in their own babies
reflections of the image of the infant Jesus and the story of the
Nativity.
So, what did I do instead of buying an expensive hand-painted
tablelcoth?
I went home and made my own!
And in future years I perfected the technique, and I commissioned a
very talented illustrator to create colorful illustrations of Nativity
scenes so that I could print them or paint them on to my white
tablecloth and other table linen.
I kept up with technology and made some very interesting discoveries.
I experimented with different methods. I wanted to make the most
beautiful tablecloth using the simplest method.
So then I wanted to share my techniques and give everyone access to
the beautiful illustrations and I wrote the book and created this
website.
You see the results in the photos of the tablecloth displayed here of
what I made in just one afternoon. If I can do this, you can too. It
does not require any special skills. However, if you would really like
to use your artistic skills, I have included a special section for
those who want to take it to the next level.
