grade after his parents immigrated to the US.
Even though he did well in math, his grades in English stunk.
When it came to spelling tests... HE FAILED EVERY SINGLE ONE.
His parents worked full time...
His teacher overloaded...
He couldn't get help anywhere.
Ravi would probably be playing catch up the rest of his life.
Without a good education, he'd be stuck in low paying jobs. Others
wouldn't give him the respect he deserved. Ultimately, he'd struggle
to survive.
That's when we met.
Didn't have a clue what I was doing as a tutor (just had free time
during college).
The first time Ravi and I met in his classroom we talked about
Batman...for over half an hour. Then I left.
I came back a week later. Guess what...
Not only did he pass for the first time... He got 100%!
His teacher told the principal and staff. Their jaws dropped_._
Even more amazing, Ravi ACED HIS SPELLING TESTS FROM THEN ON.
I volunteered every now and then, but even without me there...he was
still getting A's.
I even kept his teacher
