I have a very embarrassing story to tell you, but first…..

I am Gary Deagle and this workout program is the result of my last 7 years as a trainer in the trenches, training professional athletes, average Joes, and experimenting with myself. I have had 100’s of clients and performed 1,000s of sessions and know what works and what doesn’t. Now I help run and oversee an entire gym and personal training department.
I don’t know about you, but I love playing sports and challenging activities. Just about every weekend you can catch me either playing flag football, softball, pickup basketball, or at the beach.
It wasn’t always like this, though. I am a little embarrassed to mention this, but a couple years ago some friends asked me to play in a softball tournament with them. At the time, winter had just ended and I made the big mistake of not following a workout routine. I was just doing a lot more volume and typical meathead workouts over the winter.
Well, I grew up playing high level baseball and was a sprinter in track & field. By nature I figured that once an athlete, always an athlete right? Especially, since I always workout, I will be ready to rock. The first game starts and I am hitting lead off just like the old days. The first pitch came and I rope one into the outfield. As I am rounding first, POP!
There goes my hamstring.
I could not believe it. I pulled my hamstring and couldn’t even walk. As I spent the next two weeks recovering I vowed to never let myself fall in that rut again. I refocused my workouts and came up with something that would satisfy my need to workout, but most importantly, prepare my body for PERFORMANCE. Since then I have been injury free while playing more sports and activities than ever before. I play in a variety of sports almost year round and outside of that I continue to kayak, ski, play beach volleyball, surf, and Frisbee. I also picked up stand up paddle boarding which might be my favorite activity of all.
The best news is I literally workout 3 hours a week MAX. My strength and endurance are both good enough to bang around under the hoop or be out in the ocean for hours.
Also, there is absolutely no boring jogging or running involved.
I’m tired of seeing dudes lifting 6 days a week, avoiding sports because they don’t want to “miss any gym time”, or even worse; getting injured every time they run because their bodybuilding workout makes them a worse athlete.
