What should a rebrander do ?

When it comes to selling any product on the Net there is one method
of promotion which beats every other hands down.

a) Imagine a visitor has arrived at your site - with a problem,
question or need related to your product niche.

The secret is to give him free but valuable information,
demonstrating how you are an authority on the subject, and ending with
a recommendation for a product - yours - showing how it will fulfil
his need.

The best way to do this is to give your website visitors a free book
about your product niche which provides quality information, avoids
the hard sell but concludes with an enticing link to YOUR product.

b) And then you want to get affiliates to promote the book for you.
Which means that you need to let them rebrand the book i.e insert
their affiliate links. The key here is to make this a very simple
process.

So here is the requirement

Now think. Do your readers need to know that your book has been

? They could not care less.

This feature is irrelevant, it's a distraction and a big no-no.

just point and click. Change dozens of links with one click"

Now wait. How difficult is it to insert a placeholder ? And why do
you have dozens of links ? Does that mean your book is littered with
hard sell incitements to click to your product or to lots of other
products?

Well it shouldn't be. Really you would be far better off with just
the one link at the end of the book as it concludes with a
recommendation of a product (yours) which best fits the need of the
reader.

This feature is unnecessary.

c) "Highest quality PDF effects"

Now I'm all for producing a professional looking document. But your
goal is not to create the world's most artistic PDF file for a free
book, it's to provide good content to drive people to your site where
you sell the real product.

So this is not an essential feature

2) Do they make rebranding easy for your affiliate ?

If you want your affiliate to rebrand your ebook he needs to

* download a rebranding package.
* read and understand the rebranding instructions.
* run the rebranding program.
* upload the rebranded book to his web site.
* set up a web page with explanatory content leading to the book (or
make a copy of yours) rather than just providing a direct link to it.
(Customers don't want to download a file without a download page
telling them what it is about).

That alone will discourage 90% of your affiliates. BUT you have also
ruled out millions of potential affiliates - those without a website.

3) Do they provide stats ?

The big failure of all rebranders is that you have no control over
your affiliate promotion methods. Once a rebranded book is produced it
is out of your control, the affiliate can market it in any way
possible.

Unless you can get all your affiliates to go through the complete
upload and rebranding process every time you make an improvement to
your book (and they won't) you will have different and out-of-date

paid product. i.e. he does not have to make a copy of your sales page

He would also find tracking stats useful.

3. What do you want ?

Control of all versions. Access to all conversion stats. No need to
