Special Needs Trusts -- "What Every Parent Needs to Know"
In response to a a significant number of requests, I have prepared
a 35 page manual entitled "Special Needs Trusts -- "What Every
Parent Needs to Know". This manual has 13 pages of information in easy
to understand Question and Answer format, as well as a full length (20
plus pages) Sample Special Needs Trust, footnoted with plain English
explanations of its key provisions. The total document is about 35
pages long, with 38 explanatory footnotes. It is NOT intended to be a
substitute for getting competent counsel to prepare the trust for you.
It is intended only to educate yourself about typical provisions in
such trusts, for the purpose of enabling you to intelligently discuss
matters with your attorney. The cost is $24.95, payable by credit card
or check, online.
Though attorney fees vary greatly, you can expect to pay in the range
of $2000-$3000 for a competently prepared Special Needs Trust.
Significantly greater cost can be involved where the public benefits
recipients own money is used to fund the trust, or where SSI is not
the principle program being planned for. This manual is a good
investment insofar as it will serve to educate you about what it is
