So, who am I to give you advice, you might ask. Let me tell you a bit about myself.
My name is Anita Karlson and I’m 35 years old. When I was 14 years old I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease. Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory disease of the digestive system. You can find more information about Crohn’s disease [here](http://www.ccfa.org).
One of the first things my doctor told me was that it didn’t matter what I ate. Well, ok, I thought. He is the doctor, he should know. But now, over 20 years later, I know that what I eat makes all the difference.
I have tried lots of different diets from vegetarian diets to no carbohydrate diets, and I’ve read a lot of theory on this subject. Through trying and failing I have learned to use common sense, and I’ve come up with this solution which I feel works best for me.
However, this diet is not specially for people with digestive diseases. It is mainly for those looking to improve their health through a more natural diet. In fact, I think anyone interested in improving their heath will benefit from this dietary approach.
What is the secret then?  The good thing about this approach is: There is no secret! The recipes are based on a very simple principle. You should only eat natural ingredients! That means no artificial substances, no processed food, no chemicals; only pure, natural and clean ingredients.
This is not a very restrictive diet. It does not exclude dietary products as the vegan diet can, and it does not exclude rice and pasta as the paelo diet does. However, you are only allowed to eat natural products with no artificial substances added.
The recipes in the e-book are simple recipes, they are not culinary masterpieces. The idea is that this should be easy, everyday dishes that everyone should be able to make.
So, what does natural ingredients mean? I’ll give you two examples to illustrate the principle.
For instance, you should not buy commercial hamburgers. You should buy a piece of meat and prepare it yourself. Hamburgers are processed meat. It is ground meat with a lot of other stuff in it. Do you know what is actually in a hamburger? You think it is just meat? Think again. There are several chemical substances added to it. The same goes for any other processed meat, like sausages, meatloaf etc.
If you want to make mashed potatoes, then you need to actually buy potatoes and peal and boil and mash yourself. Always buy fresh vegetables and prepare them from the start. Don’t buy any half done or pre done products that only require heating a few seconds in the micro wave or similar. They will be full of added chemicals.
General tip! Every time you pick up a product, ask yourself what is in this product. If you’re holding up a carrot, you can say: It is a carrot, and that is all it is. If you are holding up a bag of premade carrot pure, turn the bag around and look at the list of ingredients to see what is actually in that bag. I bet there is a lot more than just carrots!
