SOME MYTHS AMONG CANDIDATES REGARDING TEACHER JOBS:
I have interviewed hundreds of candidates over 25 years. I have
found that PEOPLE OFTEN HAVE CERTAIN MISCONCEPTIONS THAT PREVENT THEM
FROM GETTING A TEACHING JOB. I had built my mind that I will try my
best to remove all those misconceptions among people so that the real
"skilled" people, not merely bookworms, appear for the teacher
interview sessions. Here are some myths people have:
MYTH 1: ONLY THE BRIGHEST CANDIDATES GET SELECTED IN TEACHING
INTERVIEWS
Let me ask one thing. What do you mean by "Bright" here? She or he
is not the one having the best scores or grades in college. She or he
is not "necessarily" the one having the most degrees and academic
record.
A class "topper" may or may not be the most intelligent person in a
class. I have learnt this the hard way in school. EVEN THE PERSONS
WITH LOWER GRADES MAY BE GOOD ENOUGH TO BE SELECTED AS A TEACHER.
MYTH 2: I'M GOOD. I DO NOT NEED TO PREPARE FOR THE TEACHING
INTERVIEW
Most candidates think that there is no need to prepare for the
teacher interviews. IT IS ONE OF THE SINGLE BIGGEST MISTAKES THEY
MAKE, I WOULD SAY!
CONSIDER THIS: WHO WILL GET SELECTED AMONG THE TWO?
A PERSON WITH TOP GRADES in college, good academic record BUT NO
PREPARATION for the teacher interview
OR
A PERSON WITH COMPARATIVELY LOWER GRADES, no much degrees BUT WITH
COMPLETE PREPARATION for the teacher's interview.
The one with higher grades and greater knowledge will most likely be
rejected because she could not answer some questions the right way and
SHE DID NOT HAVE ALL THOSE TRAITS THAT THE INTERVIEWERS ARE LOOKING
