Obviously there's a good chance that some of those people could be
more qualified than you, and get their applications in before yours so
you could end up at the back of the queue.
And as if things weren't unfair enough already, to make matters
worse in the current struggling economy companies are scaling back on
their hiring and being extra rigorous with their selection process (as
you'll see in a moment).
ALL OF THIS ADDS UP AND STACKS THE ODDS
AGAINST YOU EVER GETTING NOTICED
It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack. It's unfair and it
sucks, but it's just the way things are at the moment.
The really annoying thing is, you might be the best person for the
job. If only you could jump to the front of the queue to and talk to
the recruitment manager face to face, you could show him that you're
the perfect candidate.
Unfortunately you've got to go through the tedious process of
submitting your application to some braindead line-manager to
determine your fate, and if your application isn't up to scratch...

your head above the water, and you never get invited in for an

need – videos, job search tools, and so on. You have to struggle with
installing software, clicking through dozens of screens, configuring
hundreds of options and reading endless help manuals.
